From 1879 to 1954, Westview was known as the Westview County Home which was part of the Lancaster County's poor farm.  Today it serves as a charming and restful Bed and Breakfast.

Westview served as the county home for the poor.
In 1915, the original wood structure was destroyed by fire. A year later the present 15,000 square-foot residence was "built to last" with fireproof foot-thick walls and 6-inch concrete floors, even in the attic.
 

The new Westview County Home was finished in 1916. The northwest wing of this large prairie-style building has been thoroughly renovated and is now a distinguished, yet cozy B&B. Westview has received recognition as a landmark for its rich, historical significance.

Today, Westview is the home of Colleen and Jim Burden who would love to offer you an opportunity to come and spend some time on your own private sittin' porch complete with a view of the heartland.


Now offering multi-course gourmet breakfast seven days a week, which may include the following:

• Variety Specialty Egg Dishes
• Freshly Baked Cinnamon rolls

Quotes for extended stays as well as corporate rates are available upon request.

Check in is after 4 p.m. and check out is before 11 a.m. but we're flexible... just let us know your needs.

Westview Bed and Breakfast is perfect for small indoor gatherings.  We host afternoon weddings for up to 20 guests at a cost of $300 plus sales tax.Or, if you're  considering an outdoor wedding, Westview is set on 10 beautifully landscaped acres which can accommodate a much larger gathering.  The Warming Kitchen, opening off of the Great Room, is available for catering and commercial food preparation.

Great Room
As the name implies, this space trancends a mere living room. As the common room adjoining MorningStar, OakCreek, ParirieNook and WildRose, the GreatRoom allows guests to meet and share.

The Warming Kitchen
The WarmingKitchen, opening off of the GreatRoom, is available for catering and commercial food preparation.

Once you've unwound, day or night, there's plenty to do.

The Branched Oak and Pawnee State Recreation Areas are each about ten minutes away for those who might enjoy a picnic by the lake, fishing, boating, hiking, or biking.  

Other nearby attractions include the Highlands Public Golf Course and Nine Mile Prairie.  We're only eight minutes from everything in downtown Lincoln,  including the Historic Haymarket, the University of Nebraska - Lincoln campus, and Memorial Stadium.

The Strategic Air Command Museum is just about 20 minutes east of I-80 at exit 426.  It has a huge indoor display of military aircraft, featuring the SR-71 Blackbird - the worlds fastest jet plane.
If you're a "wing-nut" . . .  this is a MUST SEE!

Fantastic!  Nothing can compare to the quality and service at Westview.  The most relaxing weekend ever. First time at Westview and it won't be our last.  Accommodations were among the best we've had... even better than the Ritz Carlton in Kansas City.   (12/08)

I highly recommend Westview to any couple within 2 hours.   Hospitable hosts,  amazing room,  fantastic breakfast,  privacy,  the best in Nebraska.
