Traveling to Missouri includes a visit to the city known as the “Gateway to the West” and that means making a lodging reservation at a St. Louis bed and breakfast. The Greater St. Louis region includes counties in the states of Missouri and Illinois and is the 18th largest metropolitan area in the U.S. The Gateway Arch is the most popular attraction, but there are many more like Anheauser-Bush Brewery, home of the Budweiser Clydesdales. In fact, St. Louis offers more free major attractions than any place outside the nation’s capital. You can also take a cruise on a paddlewheel or try your luck at gambling on a riverboat casino. Augusta, MO is in wine country, the first federally designated viticulture area in the U.S., with several wineries in the area for touring and tasting. Then, take a bike ride on Katy Trail, the longest “National Rails-to-Trails” project. Along the trail, overlooking the Missouri River is Marthasville where The Daniel Boone home is located. With so much to see in the Greater St. Louis region, make a member of the Bed and Breakfast Inns of Missouri your home base and enjoy it all. • Northwest Missouri

Make a Northwest Missouri bed and breakfast your lodging choice when traveling in this region of the state. The northwest is rich in culture and history whether it is the Amish community of Jamesport or the early American history of the Pony Express in St. Joseph. The Amish people came to the Jamesport area and settled in 1953. Now, it is the largest Amish community in Missouri with approximately 165 families. Living in modest homes on rural farms, the Amish can be seen traveling by means of horse drawn vehicles on the rolling hills and countryside. The town hosts a large number of Amish shops and activities that cater to tourists wanting to experience earlier times. St. Joseph is famous for being the place where the Pony Express began and Jesse James died. The Pony Express National Museum illustrates its history, and there is a bronze statue of a rider commemorating the pioneer spirit. The home of Northwest Missouri State University is in Maryville. It is primarily a liberal arts college, and the design of the campus is based on Forest Park in St. Louis which is now the Missouri State Arboretum. Make a reservation with a member of the Bed and Breakfast Inns of Missouri in the northwest region of the state and be assured that it is inspected and approved.
