Art Studio Update at the Dickey House B&B in Marshfield MO. 14 Jul 2012, 3:00 pm

OK I know it has been a while since our last talk. First there were the grand kids, then the 4th of July rodeo and finally the many rooms to clean. So finally I have a moment to tell what has been happening with the art studio, not to much. Unfortunately the contractor had another job that had to be finished first. He did manage to do a little work though ,as you can see from the pictures. As you can see there are walls and places for windows. Since these pictures we do have a few windows in. The contractor will be working some this week and steady the following.
We are still hoping for an August finish date and be able to host the first artist weekend the middle of August.
Keep watching and mark your calenders.

The Dickey House B&B in Missouri starts another Renovation 14 Jun 2012, 9:03 am

The Dickey House is at it again. Our next renovation is under way. The last  redo  was the Carriage House and it has been a great success. Many people have rented the suite and loved the changes. So we are off and running on the next project.

This time is reinventing the Pavilion. Originally it was going to house parties  and weddings or group functions. But due to water problems it never fulfilled its promise. So re-invent! We are now working on closing it in and creating an artist's workshop. First of course the water problem had to be fixed. Larry and the workmen had to get creative on that, but we think we have it solved. The work is slow; just finally getting some walls.  I will keep you posted as we go along.

Why keep renovating you ask? Have to keep the place new and fresh. We are getting near the end of our days here, yes we are looking to sell and move on but have to keep the home new and  fresh for the next owners

So keep watching for the first artist weekend and get you paints ready to  travel. Check our web-site to wash for the dates for the first weekend.

Caarraige House redo 21 Apr 2011, 7:52 am

OK it is finished, what a job. The room is beautiful if I say myself. The color of the walls is great and the white bead board really makes the room. The king bed that can turn into two twins is the best part. We well be ready to put the room back into service this weekend. Now on to the next room. Also as you can see the hole on the side of my house is just about done, so flowers will be growing. Watch for next room.

Carriage House redo and basment repair 13 Apr 2011, 8:23 am

OK it has been several days and a lot has been happening. First the room is completely painted. The carpenter has attached all the bead board and trim. The head board for the bed is attached to the wall. The carpenter is completing the corneas for the curtains and I have purchased the blinds for the other windows. This weekend we should be able to finish the room completely. So watch for the completed pictures. Of course we could not do just one project so we have started on the basement. Ad you can see form the pictures we now have a fifteen foot long and six foot deep. The workmen are now sealing the walls and fixing them. Hopefully this well fix the water problems. I well send pictures as they finish.   Talk soon.

Carraige House Redo 5 Apr 2011, 8:45 am

OK here we are several days into the redo. This weekend we were able to paint the room. We chose a green/gray paint. Up against the white woodwork it looks great. We put the new headboard in the room and really like it. Thursday we will get the beadboard for the bottom of the walls, and the beds. Hopefully by the weekend the beadboard will be up. But what to do about the windows?  We would like to put some kind of shade or blind but the front window is a problem because there is no room to put the shades inside the windows. We will have to think hard on that. Talk soon.

Carriage House redo 31 Mar 2011, 12:35 pm

Well the destuction is finally over. All that horrible wallpaper is gone. The walls are ready for the next step. Today I painted all the upper trim with a fresh coat of high enamel paint. Tomorrow will be the door frames amd windows. Then finally we can get to the walls. Still alot to do we can only do one day at a time.  Pray for us.

Carriage House redo 28 Mar 2011, 8:23 pm

OK it is Monday and I worked my hands to the bone. I managed to get all around the tub and three quarters of the back wall stripped.   All that is left is the window wall. I will send you pictures tomorrow to show how hard I have worked. Till tomorrow.

Carraige House update 27 Mar 2011, 2:19 pm

OK today we did not get anything done on the room, but I had a fun day shopping for the linens. I was able to buy two blankets and two mattress covers. Could not find any comforters so will have to go catalog shopping. Monday is big day.  We plan to spend the whole day removing wallpaper.  Hope it goes fast. Will update with pictures tomorrow.
