Breakfast at the Bellevue, our Cape Girardeau, Missouri bed & breakfast inn, is a culinary treat. It continually changes in relation to the availability of organic ingredients, seasonal fruits, herbs, and vegetables, many of which are grown on our property.
Linda’s creative culinary inspiration knows no bounds. The three-course gourmet breakfast is served in the dining room on fine English china. In December 1892, Henry and Hermene Hunze began construction of their dream home. Henry, a successful ice and coal merchant, designed a Victorian home based on several castles he remembered from his native Germany. The result is a truly untique turn of the century Victorian home, with 3 different second story front window designs.

The Hunze's raised four children in the home, which remained in the family until 1955. The home was eventually converted into three apartments for local college students. In 1985 Butch and Laura Stidham purchased the Hunze home and began an extensive renovation project.

This restoration which continued through its opening as a bed and breakfast in 1993, has recaptured the home's original beauty and detail. The home features original stained glass and woodwork, four working pocket doors, three bay windows and a lovely staircase. Ceiling stencils discovered under layers of wallpaper were reproduced on the new ceilings. The original pull chain commode still works in the downstairs bathroom. The lovely renovation resulted in the Bellevue Bed & Breakfast being designated as a Cape Girardeau historic landmark.

The Bellevue Bed & Breakfast offers all the Victorian charm and elegance of yesteryear while incorporating the many modern conveniences we have all come to enjoy.

Each unique room at our Missouri bed and breakfast combines the timeless charm of yesteryear with the modern amenities of today. Our Missouri lodging accommodations include a three-course gourmet breakfast in the formal dining room, the finest Egyptian cotton towels and bed linens, flat-screen LED television, DVD player and DVD selection, CD player and CDs, Wi-Fi wireless Internet, central air conditioning, hair dryer, and private label toiletries.
During your stay, you will have use of our Ladies’ Parlor and Gentleman’s Parlor. For a romantic vacation, you may enjoy nightly turn-down service with homemade sweet treats, as well as complimentary soft drinks and bottled water. All of our guestrooms have private baths, and two rooms feature large whirlpool tubs. Relax on our front porch or back deck, and in the gardens. Bellevue Bed and Breakfast has a smokeless environment inside and out. Rates may vary by day of the week, holidays, and special event weekends. Two-night minimum may apply.
 

Girardot
Romantic elegance perfectly describes Girardot. Soft shades of cream and chocolate silk adorn the luxurious, pillow-top king bed. The French antiques, books, and art invite dreams of Paris. The spacious, chandelier bath with oversized whirlpool for two and separate step-in shower provides a relaxing, romantic, rejuvenating retreat. Belgian rugs, comfy reading chairs, 32” LED television, and all amenities complete this first floor suite. Room Rate: $155 ~ $185 Per Night

Highlands
This charming room is richly decorated in passionate shades of gold and burgundy. The silk tartan and glen rose fabrics reflect the vibrant nature of the Scottish Highlands. Snuggle up in the queen pillow-top bed. Dim the crystal sconces, light the aroma therapy candle, and relax in the Jacuzzi with shower massage. All amenities complete this second floor sanctuary. Room Rate: $135 ~ $155 Per Night

 

Yorkshire
This sophisticated, relaxing room makes you instantly feel at home. From the antique linen-fold armoire to the English tapestry inspired bedding and draperies, you’ll find treasures of merry old England. Comfy wing recliners provide the perfect spot to start or finish that novel. The double window of the Queen Anne dormer looks over the majestic century-old maple tree. A lush pillow-top queen bed makes for a restful night’s sleep. The charming bath features a Victorian pull chain toilet and step-in shower. All amenities complete this second floor room. Room Rate: $115 ~ $135 Per Night

Cove
Appropriately named for its tranquil shades of sea cove blues, greens, and sandy creams, Cove is cozy and serene without measure. Time seems to stand still when you're snuggled in the queen, pillow-top, four-post bed. Whether you curl up in the down-filled chair nestled in the alcove or leisurely soak in the antique claw-foot tub, you’ll find Cove provides a lingering sense of peace and serenity. Tub/shower. All amenities complete this second floor room. Room Rate: $115 ~ $135 Per Night

Policies

• Smoking: Bellevue Bed and Breakfast is a non-smoking property. We are a completely smoke-free property indoors as well as outdoors. There is a $250 cleaning/restoring fee for breaking this policy, and violators will be asked to leave immediately.
• Children: Although we adore children, the Bellevue Bed and Breakfast is designed for an adult clientele. For youth 16 and older, please inquire with Innkeepers.
• Pets: We love animals, but we do not have accommodations for them. Several local veterinarians will lodge pets. Violators will be asked to leave and charged any necessary cleaning fees. For those with allergies, please note there are no owner pets on the property.
• Reservations: Reservations may be secured with a credit card. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, Traveler’s Checks, personal checks, and cash for deposits and final payments. Reservations may be made online 24 hours a day. Telephone reservations may be made from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. 800.768.6822 or 573.335.3302. The maximum number of guests per room is two. All guests must be registered.
• Fees: All room rates are subject to a 7.975% sales tax and a local 4% hotel/motel tax.
• Cancellations: Bellevue Bed and Breakfast is a small property where every guest reservation made is both important and special to us. If your travel plans change and you must cancel your reservation, please call us at least seven days prior to your scheduled arrival. By doing so, you will avoid paying a twenty-five dollar processing fee. Holidays and holiday weekends require a fourteen-day cancellation notice. Early departures will be charged for the full amount of the original reservation.
• Check-in time is 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Should you arrive early, please feel free to enjoy the outdoor areas until your room is perfectly ready. For arrivals after 7:00 p.m., please make arrangements with Brian or Linda.
• Check out time is 11:30 a.m. Please feel free to enjoy the outdoor areas, but in order to give the rooms the proper attention you and all other guests deserve, all guests must check-out by 11:30 a.m. on the morning of your departure. Late check-outs require prior arrangements or a late check-out fee of 25% will be applied.
