Our Mississippi spa is a luxurious retreat located on the first floor at the rear of the Fairview Inn in Jackson, MS. Get relief from the stresses of everyday living. Massage services, manicures, pedicures, facials, reflexology, aromatherapy, hair removal, detoxification baths, and energy healing are provided in the nomiSpa. The spa staff members are trained, licensed professionals providing personalized therapies in a nurturing environment. Only homeopathic skincare products and essential oils are used to ensure a complete holistic approach. Dr. Hauschka skincare products are available for sale in the spa.

Spa Guide

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your spa appointment. Arriving late will shorten your treatment, which lessens its effectiveness and your enjoyment. Your treatment will end on time so the next guest will not be delayed. The full value of your treatment will be charged. If you must reschedule or cancel an appointment, please advise us 4 hours in advance to avoid being charged for the scheduled service. Packages require a 24-hour cancellation notice. For the benefit of your relaxation and our other guests, we ask that cellular devices be turned off prior to entering the spa. Any guest under the age of 18 receiving body treatment must be accompanied by an adult. All major credit cards, cash, and checks are accepted. Prices and services are subject to change.

The Fairview Inn provides guests with complimentary passes to the Baptist Healthplex facility that is just five short blocks from the Inn. The Healthplex has a swimming pool, indoor running track and complete aerobic and weightlifting equipment. Showers and lockers are also available. Please request passes from our guest service staff.

Yoga/Pilates

Two different studios offering yoga or pilates classes are within five minutes of the Inn. Our guest service staff will be happy to assist with schedules and directions.

Sophia's Restaurant in Jackson, Mississippi is reminiscent of a French country restaurant. The intimate dining room has a romantic atmosphere, with a garden-like setting, extensive French windows, and its own private entrance on the west side of the Inn.

Award-winning Chef Gary Hawkins selects fresh, regional southern ingredients and prepares them with a contemporary, healthy flair. Chef Hawkins also features a daily three and four-course prix fixe menu available for dinner with or without wines. Sophia's Restaurant features full bar service and an extensive, yet inexpensive, wine list.

In addition to our restaurant, we have three private dining rooms for groups of eight to forty, where groups may experience Chef Hawkins' cuisine and order off the menu.

Sophia's Restaurant serves lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch. Dress is casual, and reservations are recommended, but they are not required. Large parties are welcome, but they must be reserved in advance. Hours of Operation

Sunday Brunch

Sunday brunch, popular with the locals, offers a southern buffet of assorted salads, entrée selections featuring comfort foods, an omelet and waffle station with Chef making omelets to order and an elaborate dessert selection. Guests may also order Eggs Fairview (our version of Eggs Benedict), a la carte, or in combination with the buffet.

Family Reunions

The unique combination of our residential ambience, our friendly and courteous staff, and our peaceful facilities and grounds, provides such an ideal setting you won't want to leave.

Constructed in 1908 and now a Mississippi B&B, our turn-of-the-century historic inn is one of the few architecturally designed houses of the period remaining in the city. Fairview Inn was built for Cyrus C. Warren, Vice President of the Warren-Goodwin Lumber Company, and it was designed by the Chicago architectural firm of Spencer and Powers. Both the main house, whose front entrance faces Fairview Street and is supported by modified Corinthian columns, and the carriage house, facing Oakwood Street, are Colonial Revival, a style associated with the formality and elegance of Southern tradition. The property was purchased in 1913 by Felix Gunter, President of the Jackson Board of Trade (forerunner of the Jackson Chamber of Commerce), and then by W.E. Guild, Treasurer of the Finkbine Lumber Company, in 1921.

The Guilds remodeled the house, employing the original architectural firm, by then known as Spencer, Powers, and Martin. Mr. Guild also employed landscape architects Muskopf and Irish of St. Louis, Missouri to develop the grounds. The result combined the formally planned gardens of the French landscape tradition with the park-like atmosphere more typical of the English taste in landscape design. In the remodeling, the east and west wings and the north wing were raised to two stories, a number of interior changes were made, and the carriage house was converted into a combination garage and servant quarters. These changes left the oak-paneled library as the only room in the house in its original 1908 form.

In 1930, Fairview was purchased by D.C. Simmons. D.C. Simmons, associated for many years with Deposit Guaranty Bank and Trust Company and the Mississippi Baptist Hospital's Board of Trustees, lived in the house until his death in 1964. His widow, Annie Belle Ferguson Simmons, continued to live in the house until her death in 1972. Their son, William J. Simmons, purchased the property from his parents' estate in 1972. In recognition of its architectural character, Fairview was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

In 1986, a long, enclosed Florida or garden room, was built to connect the carriage house with the main house. In the spring of 1993, it was learned through correspondence with an architectural historian at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, that Robert Closson Spencer, Jr., who designed Fairview, was an associate of Frank Lloyd Wright, and that Fairview is his only known example of the Colonial Revival style. This explains some of the unusual interior features, such as the vaulted ceilings in the foyer and west sun room, the mission style built-in benches in the foyer and on the stair landing, and the treatment of oak columns in the foyer.

On May 8, 2000, construction began on a major new addition to contain ten luxurious bedrooms, most with fireplaces and Jacuzzis. The design followed the original of Robert Spencer for the carriage house as a dependency, connected by a short enclosed walkway. A ribbon-cutting was held on February 5, 2001, thus providing Fairview with eighteen guest accommodations and approximately 25,000 square feet of heated and cooled space.

Peter and Tamar Sharp purchased Fairview in August 2006 and opened Sophia's Restaurant in October of the same year. The Sharps recently completed extensive renovations including the addition of spa facilities, providing their guests with full service Inn amenities that rival luxury hotels.

The Fairview Inn-stitute is dedicated to providing guest group learning experiences that are educational and fun, bringing visitors of like interests together in a warm, nurturing environment. The Inn-stitute programs are events with knowledgeable guest speakers, facilitated interactive sessions, incorporating area cultural activities and combined with Fairview Inn dining and lodging options. The events vary in duration depending upon the program. Inn-stitute program costs are established based upon the number of attendees. Therefore, reservations require 100% non-refundable deposits.

At Fairview Inn, we offer Mississippi weekend getaways for specific purposes in mind such as a holistic health retreat, a business etiquette seminar, or a class for aspiring innkeepers.
