  • Introduction

Come to the country! Come to the Round Barn Farm Bed and Breakfast where old fashioned American and European ambiance meet in a 3-story bracketed country manor farm home, just outside Red Wing Minnesota.

The residence is a delight. Built on a design from 1861 by architect Samuel Sloan, the use of reclaimed timbers and country antique furnishings combine to deliver the atmosphere, comforts, and charms of days gone by.

Our Minnesota vacation lodging includes five luxurious rooms and suites. All are designed for double occupancy and include king or queen size feather beds, gas stoves or fireplaces, and a 2-person massage tub or Jacuzzi. All are decorated in sophisticated old-fashioned country style. Wonderful views of the Round Barn Farm and Flower Valley are framed by every window.

Near the banks of the Mississippi River and visible from Highway 61, four miles from downtown Red Wing, Minnesota, the 1914 Dammon Round Barn beckons you off the busy byways to enjoy 35 acres of fields, woodlands, and bluffs. Listed on the National Register of Historic Buildings, the barn is the only remaining round barn in Goodhue County.

  • Amenities

Our living room was designed with socializing and comfort in mind. Enjoy books and games or cuddle in the plush couch and watch the fire flicker. Be sure to bring your music and have fun at the old upright piano!

A stunning carved Bavarian tavern sideboard and a massive limestone fireplace complete with crane are the dual focal points of the dining room. Enjoy a three-course breakfast including Robin’s award-winning homemade hearth breads still warm from the oven. The view from the bay window is our east field and Flower Valley stretching to the Mississippi River bluffs.

Our screen porch offers summer dining space and opens to the willow sheltered patio area. The oldest building on the farm, the Civil War era stone smokehouse adjacent to the patio, now accommodates our wood-fired hearth bread oven. Here is where Robin bakes his award winning sour dough breads in the same manner bread was baked in the old country.

The second floor lounge provides additional room for relaxing and visiting. Our early risers may help themselves to coffee and a breakfast appetizer from the antique Iowa cupboard. Complimentary drinks and ice are always available in the refrigerator.

    The Round Barn

On the National Register of Historic Buildings, the round barn is truly a fascinating and beautiful example of architecture. Built in 1914 by Henry and Mary Dammon to accommodate dairy cattle, and subsequently used as a honey-processing facility by Earl and Retha Griffith, the barn has been renovated as a special place for weddings, receptions, dances, parties, and reunions. It is available to accommodate YOUR event!
