In 1897, Dr. A.T. Conley, a physician in Cannon Falls for over forty years, built this grand three-story home. Our home is a classic example of Colonial Revival Architecture. The structure is noted for its six bay windows, six column front porch, double dormers and beautiful arched leaded glass window. This century old home has been lovingly looked after, and is here for you to enjoy and become a part of its history!
There are areas common to both innkeepers and our guests within the Quill & Quilt. You may enjoy relaxing in the parlor, near the Italian tiger striped porcelain quarter-sawn oak fireplace; perusing books, magazines and movie titles in our library; or maybe playing a game and sipping a hot or cold beverage at the large oak dining room table. We always provide hot tea & cocoa for our guests in the evening. Weather permitting, you may want to enjoy our back balcony overlooking the gardens or the large front porch, which is complete with two side by side rocking chairs.

Breakfast at the Quill & Quilt is both hearty & fresh. We strive to serve you a variety of tasty and creative menu items, using ingredients from the traditional breakfast table. The result is a seasonally rotated menu ranging from fluffy baked egg creations, and homemade pastries, to fruit parfaits and Belgian waffles. Weekends - rates include our standard full breakfast which is served at 9AM (Saturday & Sunday mornings, and certain holidays). We also offer the option of a continental breakfast basket placed outside of your room about 9am. Weekdays – rates include breakfast with a choice of: 1) a continental basket placed outside your room in the morning or 2) a full breakfast served by our friends at The Old Market Deli down the street. An example of a weekend breakfast starts you off with a fresh berry and yogurt parfait, which is followed by a baked fiesta omelet - made with cheese, chipotle peppers and cilantro; and, locally made pepper/wild-rice breakfast sausage grilled to perfection, all served with a basket of cream cheese infused pumpkin muffins. We try to use fresh seasonal, and local ingredients whenever possible.

We also sell quality keepsake items designed to last, and hopefully remind guests
of the wonderful time they had at the Quill & Quilt for many years!

Dr. Conley, who built the house in 1897, is seen sitting on the front porch. Several features seen here are no longer on the house today. For example, the porch railings on the 3rd floor dormer and on top of the front porch roof. Also noteworthy on the front porch, there were four columns. Today, there are six. The unsupported middle section above the stairs began to sag as the years passed. In the background, a flight of stairs can be seen descending from the back porch. While today's house does not currently have these steps, plans are in the works to restore this stairway to give our guests greater access to the back yard. Other than this, the house has not changed much from the outside. The oak tree seen on the left has had another 100 years to grow and is larger than seen here.
