The Baert Baron Mansion with its beautiful red VeneKlasen brick was built by Dr. Daniel Baert in 1872. Truly this is a classical example of the rare French Italianate design of the Nineteenth century in Western Michigan. Nineteen beautiful made to order Romanesque styled arched beveled lead glass windows imported from Paris, France added in 1880 gracefully add to the mansion’s allure. A magnificent wrap-around porch gives the Mansion a feeling of warmth and grace as guests look at the marvelous bird bath fountain placed on the north side of the grounds over 139 years ago. The Mansion has over 4000 sq. ft. of living space that has volumes of buried stories that are hidden within its walls.

Exquisite original antique leaded stained glass windows and hard wood floors welcome you upon entry through the two massive oak doors that have stood the test of time.
Guests may use the peaceful wraparound porch to take pleasure in the incredible flower gardens each morning where they can sip rich coffee or tea or as a shady retreat on the warm summer afternoons enjoying a fresh glass of lavender lemonade.

As I sit here nibbling on some fudge you sent home with us I’m reflecting on the 2 nights we stayed at the Baert Baron Mansion. I sought out a B & B that I could find a bit of rest but what I found in your home was peace. Although the food was amazing and the home out of this world, the thing that touched me most was your love for me as a person. I really needed that. You ministered to by soul and for that I am forever grateful.
