HarborOur Top 10 Favorite Adventures: so we have eleven -  who cares:

    1. Sunsets - Watch an amazing sunset from the bluffs on Monroe Boulevard or from any beach
    2. Dinner - Search for the perfect meal.  Walk ti Tello's downtown and don't miss Everyday People in Douglas
    3. Deerlick Creek Beach - Take an early morning trip to search for sea glass and rocks
    4. Packard Park Beach - Walk down to this quiet beach and relax. Take a break and walk to Captain Lou's located under the drawbridge. Have a beer in the sun overlooking the harbor. Pick up a sandwich at the North Side Deli (about 6 bucks for a great sandwich custom made with a side and a pickle) for a picnic back at the beach
    5. Antiquing - Drive the antiquing loop searching for deviled egg plates to add to my collection. I always leave David at the inn. He slows me down
    6. Sherman's Ice Cream - Indulge in a cool desert. An evening drive east on Phoenix, look to your left at the lines and you'll know you're there. Some of our guests go twice a day. Just order a single
    7. Drive to Saugatuck - Follow the Blue Coast Artist's Trail, stop at all the galleries. When we arrive in Saugatuck we people-watch, hit the boutiques and tasting rooms. We can never leave without a tenderloin sandwich at Phil's
    8. Thursday night music at Riverside Park - Borrow lawn chairs or a blanket from the inn, grab a sandwich from the Depot, stroll to the park, sit back and enjoy the music - all summer long
    9. Light Up the Lake (4th of July) Don't miss the parade, the spectacular fireworks, and the fabulous fine art fair. David and I bought a sculpture last year. It doesn't really go with the Carriage House decor but we love it
    10. Bike the Kal-Haven Trail - Take a picnic lunch and a bottle of wine or stop at a farmers market or restaurant along the way. Our guests love this scenic route especially in the fall
    11. Kayaking on the Black River - Bask in natural beauty. All you need is wine, cheese, crusty bread and a paddle. For those a little less athletic (like us) rent a motorized dinghy

    Beautiful SunsetsJust A Few More:

    • Leaf peeping along the back roads, apple picking, cider and donuts at McIntosh's, pie at Cranes
    • Browsing Black River Books
    • Attending festivals, there are so many it is hard to pick a favorite.
    • Savoring a perfectly grilled steak at Sophie's
    • Walking to the Farmers Market on Saturday morning
    • We're addicted to the blue potatoes and the beets
    • Appreciating a trip to Wavecrest Nursery. We're amazed every time we go
    • Watching the Waterfront Film Festival in in South Haven. In June David and I saw 7 films in one day. Fun but fanny fatigue. We are looking forward to next year but will bring a cushion
