All of the rooms at rose hill are decorated to reflect the flower theme of that particular room. Each is furnished in authentic period antiques. The paintings or prints in each room are also original antiques selected to further the theme. Each room features a private bath, central air conditioning, cable television, and down comforters.  All rooms are large and feature very tall windows; even the second floor ceilings are 11 feet tall. Five of the six rooms are on corners, so there is always good light. Rooms are separated by baths or stairways, and the exterior walls are 14 inches thick, so each room is very quiet. All rooms have queen beds except for two. These two are tall Victorian beds for which we had custom mattresses made. Each is as wide as a queen, but are four inches shorter to accommodate the lovely antique side rails. Each room is for two people. Rollaway beds or cribs are not available.

    The Morning Glory Room
The Morning Glory Room is on the southwest corner of the house with good views of the front yard with its ornate Victorian gazebo. It has an English Victorian bedroom suite with an unusual three-mirrored dressing table and an enormous walnut armoire. A small table with a lovely antique lamp is next to the queen size brass bed. A blue rocker and gentleman’s chair are separated by a marble picture frame style table.

    The Rose Room
The Rose Room is the only guest room on the first floor, and is often reserved for those who have difficulty with stairs. Also, since it is convenient to the parlors, it is frequently used as the bride’s dressing room. The furnishings in the rose room feature an ornate walnut Victorian bedroom suite. The bed is nine feet tall and has beautiful burled walnut panels. The dresser is almost as tall, and has white marble surfaces and candle-stands. The matching commode also has a marble top. All three pieces have brass pulls decorated with cherubs. Since the Rose Room has no closet, (common in homes of this period,) an unusual mahogany half-armoire with a full-length mirrored door serves for hanging garments. All of the original paintings and prints depict roses except for a large tinted photograph of a little boy. All of the lamps are of the period, and one is a Handel lamp with a painted shade. Even the chandelier is decorated with porcelain roses. As might be expected, the wallpaper has a rose theme. A lovely oriental rug covers the oak floors. The Rose Room has a full modern bath with shower and tub. Guests often remark about about the unusual ornate medicine cabinet.

    The Violet Room
The Violet Room has three large windows overlooking the front and side yards. It is on the southeast corner of the house and gets wonderful light. It has a hardwood floor and a floral carpet. The enormous carved walnut bed centers the room, which also features a mirrored shaving stand and a lock-side dresser with hatbox compartments. Curtains are white lace with a violet patterned swag over each. The artwork is flower prints and yard longs of violets and Victorian ladies.  The beautiful violet-flowered wallpaper is coordinated with that of the adjoining bath. The Violet room also has its own cozy gas fireplace operated by a remote control.

    The Tulip Room
The Tulip Room features a walnut and marble bedroom set which shares the room with a graceful cheval mirror, a down-filled love seat, and an unusual Victorian shaving stand.  An ornately carved rosewood lady's chair is by the window. The white marble sink is also a local antique. The Tulip Room looks over the east yard with its gigantic Austrian Pine and picturesque fountain. It also has a view of the tennis court.

    The Lilac Room
The Lilac Room is on the northwest corner of the house and overlooks the side yard with its gardens, fountain, brick patio, and swimming pool. It features an elegant canopied queen bed, walnut marble-top washstands and dresser, and a window seat. The edges of the hardwood floor is stenciled with flowers and vines.  The bathroom is the original one added to the house in the 1890’s. The antique claw-foot tub is painted with lilacs to compliment the bedroom wallpaper.

    The Pansy Room
Once the nanny's room, some guests consider the Pansy Room the coziest and most secluded room in the house. A draped queen bed shares the room with a matched Victorian dresser and commode. There is a screen for discreet dressing, and there are pansies everywhere in Paul de Longpre prints, Victorian Valentines, and a pair of Currier & Ives prints.  Colors are cream and burgundy.  Your own cozy fireplace warms the room. The Pansy Room’s two windows overlook the side yard with its fountain, patio, and swimming pool.
