The Kalamazoo House Bed and Breakfast

Kalamazoo House offers nine (9) guestrooms with private baths, in-room phones, hi-speed Wi-Fi throughout the house, flat-screen cable HDTV's with DVD in each room, and individually-controlled heat & AC in each room. Our three Premiere rooms feature whirlpool baths-- some large enough for two. All guestrooms are zoned for individually-controlled heat and A/C.

Room rates include a delicious hot breakfast every day of the week, evening social hour, 24-hour complimentary beverage station, and cookies and milk before bed! Breakfast begins with a fruit course and is followed by a choice of entrees like our house specialties Banana Nut Crunch French Toast and Cheesy Eggs Benedict. Breakfast is served from 8:00 am to 10:00 am, and earlier breakfast is always available earlier with advance notice.

Both of you can relax in the large black jetted air tub, and then sink into this pillow-top Queen bed and enjoy the firelight from the stunning electric fireplace. The home's original 2nd-floor master bedroom, Room #4 offers distinctive antique furnishings with marble-topped nightstands and dresser. Enjoy elegant period wallpapers and stenciling in this large, airy second-floor room. The large ensuite bathroom features the huge jetted tub for two, separate shower, and marble-topped vanity. We provide the bath salts and snuggly robes.

Listen to music stations or watch expanded cable on the large flatpanel TV, or pop in a DVD from our collection. If you must work, you can access the internet with our high-speed wireless from anywhere in the house, or use the room's antique desk. Read or relax in the wingback chair or the velvet settee. And enjoy the view of the stunning Dale Chihuly glass sculpture next door at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts -- it seems like it's been placed there just for you!

We get a lot of comments about how comfortable this Queen bed is, and the recliner is perfect for relaxing with a book or watching TV. There's a desk, as well as chest/armoire housing the flat screen TV and giving lots of room for unpacking. The ensuite bath has a nicely-tiled walk-in shower (no tub), and a vanity for extra storage.

The vaulted ceiling over the bed gives a real feeling of space to the room, and the (decorative) fireplace recalls the day when this was the Cook's room back in the 1870's. The favorite room of several of our regular guests, Room #10 is a peaceful retreat. Nestle into the loveseat to read or watch TV. Unpack into a huge antique armoire with mirrored doors and the marble-topped antique dresser. This room is a real mix of modern and antique! • DEPOSIT
• Upon receipt of your reservation, we will charge a deposit to your credit card.
• For a one or two night stay, the deposit is equivalent to one night's rate plus taxes.
• For a stay of three nights or longer, the deposit is equal to half the entire booking, including taxes.
• CANCELLATION
• The Kalamazoo House is an intimate property where every guest reservation is both important and special to us. Your reservation means that we have committed to have your room available for you upon your arrival.
• If your travel plans change and you must cancel your reservation, please call us at least 7 (seven) days prior to your arrival date to let us know. Your deposit will be refunded, less a $25.00 reservation fee.
• In the unlikely event that you must cancel with less than 7 (seven) days notice, shorten your stay or check out early, please understand that we must ask you to take responsibility for your entire reservation. For cancellations with less than 7 days notice, we will refund any room nights that we are able to re-book, minus the $25 reservation fee.
• Note: Three or more rooms, and whole-house bookings, are subject to 30 day cancellation policy and a 50% deposit at time of reservation.
• CHECK-IN TIME
• * Check-in time must be scheduled between 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM Eastern Time (or later by advance arrangement with the innkeepers). We do ask you to let us know what time to look for you, and if you find that your expected arrival time changes, please give us a call at 269-382-0880.
• For travelers coming from Chicago or other points west, please remember when making your plans that Michigan is on Eastern time---an hour later!
• CHECK-OUT TIME
• We ask that you vacate by 12:00 Noon.
• Late check-outs are difficult for us, as we need the time to ready the room for the next guest, but can sometimes be arranged for an additional fee.
• SMOKING
• Absolutely no smoking is allowed inside the building. We will assess a $250 cleaning fee if you have smoked inside.
• Smoking of cigarettes and cigars is permitted on the porches as long as it doesn't bother other guests. Please use the receptacles provided.
• NUMBER OF GUESTS PER ROOM
• Our rooms accommodate one or two persons, and the rate is the same whether single or double occupancy.
• In the rare instance that a third person can be accommodated, the person must be registered with advance permission by the innkeepers, and an additional $25/night fee will be added to the room rate.
• Please remember, children are "persons"!
• CHILDREN
• Our inn is most suitable for adult guests.
• Childen 12 and older are happily welcomed in the room with their parent with advance notice and subject to our policies regarding the number of guests per room (see above).
• Special situations allow for younger children (for example, a whole-house booking). Please call to inquire about making arrangements.
• PETS
• As animal lovers ourselves, we wish we could accommodate your pets, but unfortunately we cannot.
• Please call for help in making arrangements to board your pet, if necessary.
• RATES and TAXES
• Rates/policies are subject to change and vary during high impact periods and special requests.
• Posted rates do not include 6% state sales tax and 5% accommodations tax, or $1 per room night ML2L room assessment.
• HELPFUL INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR ARRIVAL AT KALAMAZOO HOUSE B&B
• South Street is a one-way street heading East, and our address of 447 W. South Street is 1/2 block east of Westnedge Avenue (which is a one-way street heading South).
• After turning left from, or crossing over, Westnedge Avenue, please turn Right into the first driveway just past the brown brick Marlborough Building, park in our small parking lot behind the house, and come around to the side porch to check in.
• If all the spaces behind the house are full, please continue around to the side porch to unload, and we'll direct you to other free parking very nearby.
• Our parking area is tight. If you have a very large vehicle, you may want to take advantage of street parking temporarily while you decide whether to use the back lot. If you are pulling a trailer of any size, please don't drive into the back parking lot.
• If you are simply stopping to quickly check in, you might want to use a metered space in front of the house, if available. Push the button for 15 minutes of free parking, and come to the front door.
• No matter which door you come to, you'll find it locked. Please ring the bell. In the unlikely event that there is no response to the bell, please call the house number which is on the door.
