We are a few blocks from Lake Huron as well as several lighthouses which attracts most travelers to our area.
What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn? We're best known for old fashioned hospitality and great breakfasts.
If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit? Travelers find us when looking for accommodations near Lake Huron or near lighthouses. People enjoy visiting the Thumb of Michigan because it is peaceful, they see miles of beautiful Lake Huron shoreline and kayakers find beautiful parks plus our marked water trail along the shoreline.
What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn? We have been told by guests that they had a better night's sleep at our Inn than at home and enjoyed the best breakfasts they have ever had.
What’s the best kept secret about the area? Miles and miles of beautiful Lake Huron shoreline. Fabulous parks, walking trails, Tip Of The Thumb Heritage Water Trail and one of the best lighthouse museums in the State of Michigan at Point aux Barques Lighthouse at Lighthouse County Park nearby.
If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area? Visit the lighthouses, wonderful museums, walk the pedestrian path along the shoreline, visit our historic movie theater
Is there anything within walking distance of your inn? Our Inn is within walking distance of everything in Harbor Beach; the beach, restaurants, museums, shops parks, the movie theater, the ice cream shop and more.
What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area? Smalley's Bar and Grill and Williams Inn are the favorites

How many rooms does your inn have? We have four guest rooms all with private baths.

Greeted by her old-fashioned warmth and grace, you will experience refreshing surroundings and the simple joys of our traditional Bed and Breakfast. You may enjoy spending time at the beach, shopping, fishing, bicycling, antiquing, or visiting historical points of interest around Harbor Beach, in Michigan's Thumb. We will be happy to assist you with your plans for day trips in the area.
We are located in Harbor Beach, Michigan, on the edge of Thumb of Michigan in Huron County, on State Street (M-142), just a few blocks west of Huron Ave (M-25), and a short walk to the beach, shops, restaurants, parks, museums, fishing piers, or marinas.
Our Bed and Breakfast has four guestrooms with private baths. For our guests that prefer to avoid stairs, we now have a first floor guest room. Amenities include fluffy white robes, hair dryers, satellite TV-VCR, and central air conditioning. A hospitality center equipped with a microwave oven, coffee pot, and refrigerator, as well as coffees, teas, and snacks are available on the guest room floor. WI-FI is available for our guests. A full hot breakfast is served in our dining room. Your hosts, Bill and Janice Duerr, cordially invite you to enjoy year-round accommodations with a simple, yet elegant atmosphere.
Our century old Victorian home has been completely renovated and redecorated. The common rooms include the parlor, library and dining room. An eclectic mix of antiques and vintage furnishings invites you to unwind and feel at home. Family heirlooms and cherished collectibles are tucked into nooks and crannies, beckoning a second look.
A hearty homemade breakfast of freshly baked muffins, fresh fruit and an entree selection is served each morning in the dining room between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. Early risers heading out to fish are invited to take muffins, juice, coffee and fresh fruit with them on the boat.
Relax in the library with a good book, listen to some soothing music by the fire, or borrow a movie from the video library. Gather in the parlor for conversation, music or a good book. Or perhaps walk in the garden or sit on the wrap around porch overlooking the garden.
Good News, The State Street Inn Cookbook is now here and available in our gift shop. Containing 200 great recipes, we have included many of Janice's original recipes as well as old favorites. You may order the cookbook by calling us at (989)-479-3388 to charge it to your credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover). For each book, the cost is $9.00 plus $2.00 shipping and handling. We will mail the cookbook out to you right away.
The Inn has four comfortable guest rooms available. Cozy and inviting, the colors and furnishings were chosen to delight the eye and the amenities included make your stay a warm and memorable one. Each guest room has a private bath, cable TV, and VCR. Internet access is available in all rooms using a high-speed wireless network.
