Michigan bed and breakfast innkeepers welcome you
Romantic getaway? Relaxing vacation? Business travel lodging alternative? If you seek a better way to stay, choose a unique, friendly and genuine Michigan bed and breakfast -- where a night's sleep can be transcendent, and breakfast conversation might be as memorable as the meal.
Each year, thousands of travelers in Michigan choose the warm, professional hospitality of inns belonging to the Michigan Lake to Lake Bed and Breakfast Association. Our high standards and regular, independent quality reviews assure that travelers find clean, comfortable, well-maintained and safety-minded accommodations.
Our Michigan bed and breakfast innkeepers aspire to far exceed even our highest standards. They want to hear guests say "Wow!"Each region of Michigan is diverse. Each has its own special personality and feel - something that only being there can reveal. Likewise, each Michigan bed and breakfast is imbued with the unique personalities, dreams, and experiences of the innkeepers.
But at a bed and breakfast Michigan, it's all about you. Take the time to discover the regions of Michigan.
Head into the wilderness of the Upper Peninsula, where there are more trees than people. Hike, ski, and bike miles of trails through hardwood forests, along the tops of sand cliffs, and past roaring rivers. Stand atop solitary Michigan lighthouses and be buffeted by the wind. Watch the aurora borealis dance in the night sky. Charter a fishing boat and bring home a trophy fish. Learn the history and culture of the Straits of Mackinac - where the Ojibwa, Huron, Odawa tribes and the French coexisted - in the Museum of Ojibwa Culture in St. Ignace. Visit Michigan wineries overlooking Lake Michigan. Rediscover yourself at Upper Peninsula Michigan bed and breakfasts.
Unearth the secrets of Northeast Michigan. The Mackinaw State Forest and the Huron National Forest dominate this land, making it an ideal spot for hiking, skiing, and fishing. Canoe or kayak the Au Sauble River, famous for flyfishing. Take the ferry to Mackinac Island from Cheboygan or Mackinaw City. Learn why Gaylord is a golfing mecca and why there are so many shipwrecks in Thunder and Saginaw Bays. Visit Michigan lighthouses overlooking Lake Huron and the Sunrise Side of Michigan. Enjoy Lake Huron shoreline towns that are magnets for fishermen. You'll find lots of natural beauty and Northeast Michigan bed and breakfasts along the way.
Northwest Michigan is where chic meets casual. World-class golf, ski mountains and trails, numerous Michigan wineries, art, culture, history.... What’s not to like? There is much to discover between Mackinaw City and Manistee, between Grand Traverse Bay and Burt Lake. Ride the multi-use trail between Mackinaw City and Petoskey, on Little Traverse Bay. Take your pick of championship golf courses. Drink Michigan wine and enjoy a fabulous meal in Traverse City. Fish on Crystal Lake or dozens of others. Let yourself be pampered in Northwest Michigan bed and breakfasts.
The beaches and coastal towns of Lake Michigan are a year-round draw, but when you're in Southwest Michigan, take time to appreciate the bounty from the region's rich farmland. Farm stands or u-pick farms provide ample supplies of tart cherries, sweet blueberries, and so much more in season. Plan a trip to Southwest Michigan bed and breakfasts around its wine and beer trai l. You'll find many winerie s and specialty brewers. Of course, Southwest Michigan also has great skiing, hiking, paddling, swimming, horseback riding and rail-trails, too.
Southeast Michigan is a hopping place with the many attractions of Ann Arbor, Lansing and the Detroit metro area. You'll find great art, food, entertainment, sports and more. But in Southeast Michigan, you'll also small towns, farms, parks and forests, bike trails, rivers for paddling and flyfishing, and more. Bridges in Detroit and Port Huron and a tunnel in Detroit make it easy to come and go from Canada. Explore Lexington, Harbor Beach and other towns on the Lake Huron shore. Bed and breakfasts Southeast Michigan provide a romantic or relaxing escape close to Michigan's most populous area. -
Visitors to Michigan's Upper Peninsula will need plenty of time to fully explore the area's diverse and beautiful terrain. From waterfalls to lakeshore, from mountain vistas to thick-forested trails, the Upper Peninsula is a nature lover's dream! The 384-mile-long peninsula stretches from Drummond Island in the east to Ironwood in the west and is 233 miles wide from Menominee in the south to Copper Harbor at the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula. The Upper Peninsula is home to Tahquamenon Falls located in Tahquamenon Falls State Park. The Tahquamenon Falls are one of the largest falls east of the Mississippi River and the 40,000-acre park surrounding them offers miles of trails perfect for hiking in the summer, spring and fall, and for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter. Another spectacular location is the Isle Royale National Park. This remote park is accessible only by boat and floatplane and provides an abundance of activities. Isle Royale offers 165 miles of scenic hiking trails, excellent fishing, historic lighthouses and shipwrecks, ancient copper mining sites, and plenty of spots to observe wildlife. The hundreds of lakes and streams throughout the UP mean there is never a shortage of fishing and boating opportunities. The many lighthouses along the 1,700-miles of shoreline are a great way to tour the entire area. There is the Seul Choix Point Lighthouse overlooking Lake Michigan, the Sand Point Lighthouse with its Maritime Museum, the Peninsula Point Lighthouse in the Hiawatha National Forest, Round Island Lighthouse on Mackinac Island and many more. These are just a handful of the many exciting places to explore in Michigan's Upper Peninsula while enjoying a Michigan bed and breakfast as your home away from home.

Lakes, rivers, bays, forests, and beaches--that's what Michigan residents are referring to when they use the term "up north". Hunting, fishing, hiking, boating, swimming, and skiing opportunities are abundant here in Northeast Michigan. Let's not forget the plentiful mountain bike trails: The Black Mountain Ramble, which, incidentally, is actually a flat area, is 35 miles long. There's also the roller-coaster Chippewa Hills Pathway, and many others. While traveling through Northeast Michigan, you'll certainly want to take a break in some of our enchanting villages and towns along the way. Golf and skiing are the center attractions in the town of Gaylord, and if you're in training, you'll want to see the annual Memorial Day Mackinac Bridge Run in Mackinaw City. Time spent here in Northeast Michigan will create memories you will revisit over and over again.

Lake Huron and Lake Erie, together with coldwater ponds, are what remains of the glaciers that once covered the Southeast area of Michigan. There's no lack of recreational waterways here, as the Great Lakes are joined by the Detroit River, the St. Clair River, and Lake St. Clair. Metropolitan Detroit, sometimes called "Motor City" for the automotive industry's home there, is surrounded by communities as an extension of the city. Ann Arbor, Monroe, and Irish Hills are a few examples. Lighthouses, parks, museums, fishing--so many activities are available for the whole family. Our comfortable bed and breakfast inns are an excellent choice for lodging while you vacation in Southeast Michigan. The lovely accommodations will certainly draw you back another time. The Dexter Cider Mill and the Bentley Historical Library are two examples that showcase the rich history of this region--once a stop on the Underground Railroad, as those living in Quaker villages assisted slaves who sought freedom in the North. Any sporting enthusiast will certainly recognize the world's largest outfitter, Cabela's, which is one example of the shopping opportunities which await you. Ready for a winter weekend getaway? Southeast Michigan offers a host of cold weather sports: dog sled racing, skiing, and ice fishing, for example. The fun and relaxation is never ending; come visit us and see for yourself!
