  • Introduction

Originally built as a sea-captain's home, for many years passengers in horse-drawn carriages came upon a welcomed stopover, Crockers Cottage, now the Crook Jaw Inn. The Crook Jaw has seven fireplaces and offers five distinctive guestrooms, each with private bath and A/C. In the double fireplaced Gathering Room or in the fireplaced Library you can sink into comfortable sofas and chairs as you curl up with that good book.

  • Insider's Info

Travelers are always looking for memorable and relaxing experiences. Let’s discover more through the words of our innkeepers. Many thanks to Brian for sharing his own secrets with BBOnline.com!
Why do most travelers stay at your inn?

People visit us because of the positive online reviews we've received, our location (mid Cape Cod), close to whale watching and the ferries to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard and for our great pricing.

What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn?

We are known for our historic location, great breakfast reviews, and the fact that we are walking distance to fine dining.

If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?

The #1 reason to visit this area is for the great location. This area does not have the crowds and yet you can easily get to any area of the cape from here.

What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?

We love compliments, though among our favorites is when someone says that we have a charming Inn and that the online pictures do not do it justice.

What’s the best kept secret about the area?

The best kept secret about this area is the amount of history it has. Most homes are former sea captain's homes and most are well over 100 years old.  The area is know as Captains Mile. Our inn is on the National Register of Historical Places and was built in 1798. It has been fully restored.

If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?

Most guests will take the ferries over to Nantucket and or Martha's as a day trip.  Also most will take a day trip to the tip of the state, Provincetown.  Walking trails, bike trails, museums and whale watching, and harbor cruises are all popular attractions.

Is there anything within walking distance of your inn?

There are plenty of nature trails within walking distance. Also The Edward Gorey House Museum, Captain Bangs Hallet House Museum, shopping, and  restaurants can all be reached on foot.

What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?

Our first recommendation for a walk able restaurant is Old Yarmouth Inn. This is a highly rated New England Tavern type restaurant.  It is located 6 houses from the Crook Jaw Inn.

Any good area guides/websites that travelers could reference?

I find that capecod.com is a good place for listing events, places to eat, and places to stay while visiting the cape.

How many rooms does your inn have?

The Crook Jaw Inn has 5 guest rooms.

    Do you accept pets?

We do not accept pets and I do not know of any B&B's in this area that will.
