    The Hungry Whale Guest House - Nantucket, Massachusetts

    The Hungry Whale is a small quaint guest home owned and operated by Dennis and Mary Ellen Sulllivan. Mary Ellen is Mrs. Johnson's daughter who is running the guest with same hospitality and warmth that has been Mrs. Johnson's trademark for the past 37 years. Many of the regular guests have been coming back year after year to enjoy the beauty of the island the homemade baked muffins, breads, jellies and delicious jams served warm every morning. The Hungry Whale Guest House. is centrally located in the Historic part of town. Also known as the Cliff area , overlooking the beautiful Nantucket Bay Harbor. Take a short bike ride or walk to the cobblestone Main Streets in Nantucket where you will shop all the small quaint shops. Jetties/Step and Cliff beaches are the closest beaches that you can walk or bike.

     

    On a beautiful clear night you can walk about 5 blocks to the magnificent Step Beach where you
    can enjoy the beauty of a spectacular sunset while sipping your glass of wine or champagne.

    The Hungry Whale is also located on a very quiet street with a lovely
    front and side garden as well as a deck for your privacy and comfort.

    We also provide beach chairs and beach towels at no extra charge.

     

    The Hungry Whale Guest House - Nantucket, Massachusetts A continental breakfast is served in the privacy of your room, deck or garden from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., and is included in the price of the room. Each morning your tray will consist of a warm freshly baked muffin/bread, juice or fresh fruit, with imported cheeses. Additional food services included in room rate: Wine Tasting with special cheeses and or fresh fruit served daily. All these extra's are inclusive with the price of the room.

    The Hungry Whale Guest house is a short walk, approximately 1/2 mile from the center of town, where there are wonderful restaurants and shopping. The nearest major airport is ACK, 8 miles away. We are located about 10 minutes from the airport.

    This beautiful dragonfly is in our front walkway, to celebrate the memory of my beloved son Christopher Shawn, who so graciously ran the guest house several seasons before his passing in 2006.

    The garden and the flowers are in his honor and to keep his memory alive...

    Meet the Innkeepers

    Mrs Johnson who who ran the Guest House over 30 years recently passed on the business to her Daughter Mary Ellen Sullivan who also has a love and personality which is warm and charming. In the past several years we have welcomed Guests from all over the world. There is a six pound York, named Zachary (Zack) who this summer will celebrate his 16 birthday. York also has been coming for the summers all his life!

  • Weddings

    We host small wedding parties at our Bed and Breakfast in Beautiful Nantucket. The Hungry Whale is a short walk to the beautiful Step beach where you can watch the colorful sunset that is so unique to the island with a hue of colors. The bride and Grooms accommodations are the lovely Canopy room with it's antique bed, furnishings, refrigerator, air conditioner, small sitting area with your own bathroom (sink/toilet) and shared shower with another room. We also have an outside Hot/Cold enclosed shower for your comfort and privacy. The Bride and Groom will also receive their own bottle of Champagne to celebrate this wonderful memorable occasion. We also have one Queen Brass bed room and a smaller double room. All room have their own refrigerator, beach towels and chairs and will enjoy our freshly baked muffins from our continental breakfast. Each night our guest are welcomed to sit in our lovely garden and enjoy a glass of wine and cheeses or fruit as part of our daily service to our Guest.
