Frommer's Comprehensive Travel Guide - New EnglandAround the turn of the century the North Shore was a summer playground for Boston's high society, much as Newport was to New York. Manchester By-The-Sea, in the heart of the North Shore, has been sought out by the most discriminating for many years. They were drawn here by its scenic harbor, sandy beach, the quiet, and the short trip from Boston.
The Old Corner Inn is conveniently located on Route 127, a scenic stretch of road that takes you through this beautiful area. This road is popular for touring by car, bicycle, walking or jogging, and also leads you to the attractions of neighboring Salem, Gloucester and Rockport.

"A home away from home"The Old Corner Inn is uniquely located in the heart of Boston's North Shore,
only 35 miles from Boston and near all area attractions. The Old Corner Inn is a gracious manor where you can enjoy a vacation or weekend get-away. This landmark structure was built in 1865, one of many grand homes built on Boston's "Gold Coast" during that period. It later became the location of the Danish summer embassy. Uniquely situated along scenic Route 127, the area's favored route to travel before major highways were built, the home was opened to North Shore travelers a half century ago.
The Old Corner Inn is a wonderful place for a variety of business or personal functions (weddings, business meetings, rehearsal dinners, or any special event).
