The Summer White House is just a mile from Tanglewood, in the very heart of historic Lenox. Our guest rooms are lavishly decorated in traditional style and each features air conditioning and private bath. With many of the area's finest restaurants and specialty shops within walking distance from our property, your visit to the Berkshires will be comfortable and complete!
Called "The Lanai" for its many inviting porches, the Summer White House is an original Berkshire Cottage. It was constructed in 1885 for New Yorker, J. Egmont Schermerhorn. Our graceful and comfortable home is furnished with a fine collection of antiques. The library, replete with volumes on every subject, also contains a seven-foot concert grand piano making this a setting conducive to beautiful music.
Our living room, decorated in traditional style, contains a fine collection of American paintings. We invite our guests to linger in this graceful setting.
Downstairs, our sun-filled breakfast room is a perfect place to start your day. Enjoy a hearty continental breakfast while planning your visit to Tanglewood and other nearby attractions.
A combination of sunshine, civility, and Mozart makes our breakfast room baronial--even by Lenox standards. Join your fellow guests as you indulge in fresh pastries and intriquing conversation!
