  • Introduction

The Seven Hearths Bed and Breakfast, a large Dutch gambrel built in 1891, has been restored to display its original charm and elegance and provides a homelike atmosphere with country decor accented by antique furnishings and curious curios. The attitude of The Seven Hearths is that guests should arrive feeling welcome, and leave as newfound friends.

The Seven Hearths is located in the quaint, slow-paced town center of Chesterfield, population 1100. Located on the General LaFayette Trail, it is a quiet village nestled between the Berkshire Hills and the Connecticut River Valley. The Inn is located only twelve miles from Northampton, home of Smith College, and about a thirty minute drive from the five-college area.

The Seven Hearths Bed & Breakfast - Chesterfield, Massachusetts

Considered by some to be feasts, our main course specialties include such dishes as: Baked stuffed French Toast (cream cheese and our own home-made jams) with a fruit compote; Baked Pancakes with a variety of toppings (apples, blackberries, peaches); Oven Baked Omelets laden with a medley of fresh vegetables; Banana Bread French Toast with a strawberry compote and fresh bananas, covered with golden maple syrup (locally made) and accompanied by Denise's blue ribbon jams, breads, popovers, scones and muffins.

Unlimited fresh ground coffee, choice of three juices and a fresh fruit dish add the finish to the start of your day. The ever tradition of eggs, smoked ham or bacon is always available upon request. We gladly accommodate Low-fat, vegetarian, and other special dietary needs.

The Seven Hearths offers unique, private accommodations at competitive rates. We offer you a wonderful alternative lodging option to hotels & motels located in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts, and in the Five College Area of Northampton, Amherst, Deerfield, & South Hadley.

In winter, each of the beds have cozy flannel sheets with electric blankets and plenty of wood for the fireplace, along with fragrantly scented housewarmer candles by our nearby friends at Yankee Candle provide for the added ambiance and warmth. Due to our Berkshire elevation, summer evenings generally bring cool breezes. Each room is supplied with air conditioning for that extra comfort, and is also equipped with radio/alarm, and robes- whether for lounging or for using when returning from our hot tub facilities. A separate hall refrigerator is also available for guests.
