    Nestled in a scenic village near Chesapeake Bay, our bed and breakfast in St. Michaels, MD consists of three charming 19th century homes that capture the essence of a luxurious and comfortable getaway for discerning travelers.

    Five Gables Inn and Spa is a haven for relaxation, featuring twenty well-appointed rooms, an Aveda Concept Spa, an indoor pool, sauna and steam room. Five Gables Inn also features four pet friendly rooms.

This St. Michaels bed and breakfast also features The Shops at Five Gables - B’s Stitches, a fine needlepoint shop, Flying Fred’s, an upscale pet boutique and an on-site Aveda shop as well as the ability to shop for Aveda products online.

    Why do most travelers stay at your inn?

    Our location, our amenities, Aveda Spa and warm hospitality.

    What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn?

    We are best known for our Aveda Spa. Our Inn is unique that our 20 rooms are split between 3 historical homes and we are the only small Inn in town that offers an indoor swimming pool. What we love most about the Inn is welcoming our guests and providing them a haven for relaxation.

    If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?

    St. Michaels is small, historical and quaint with great shops, restaurants, museums and marinas all within walking distance of the Inn.

    What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?

    Although we have received many, our high rate of return visitors is our best compliment!

    What’s the best kept secret about the area?

    The many things to do and see on the Chesapeake Bay and surrounding towns. St. Michaels is “The Town That Fooled The British”!

    If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?

    Head out for a tour on one of many Sailboat and Skipjack boats to explore the area via water. Visit the local shops for unique finds. The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum which is a treasure trove of all things Chesapeake Bay and St. Michaels Winery and St. Michaels Brewery. Also neighboring towns of Easton, Oxford and Tilghman.

    Is there anything within walking distance of your inn?

    All the town has to offer is within walking distance of the Inn. Including great restaurants, antique stores, quaint boutiques, museums and waterfront parks.

    What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?

    There are many great restaurants nearby; it would be hard to choose just one. The Eastern Shore of Maryland is especially known for Maryland Blue Crabs.

    How many rooms does your inn have?

    We have 20 rooms and suites located within 3 historical homes.

    Do you accept pets?

    We are dog friendly and offer 4 dog friendly rooms and 1 dog friendly suite. Our four-legged guests receive a special bed and bowl of their own to use during their stay and a toy and treat to take home! St. Michaels is also very dog friendly. Several restaurants, that offer outdoor seating, offer “doggie menus”!

  • Pets Welcome

    We will gladly welcome your four-legged friend to stay in your room with you but we do have a few stipulations:

    • We can only allow one dog in a room
    • If you choose to leave him/her in the room unattended she/he must be in a crate
    • Less than 75lbs
    • Over 1 year old
    • Only certain rooms are allocated for guests with their dogs. We have four pet friendly rooms and 1 pet friendly suite
    • Dogs are not allowed in the breakfast room or Spa
    • Although the Inn welcomes your pet, not all people are as pet friendly as we are and we ask that you respect other guests

    We do charge $50; your little friend will receive a bed to use during their stay, treats and a toy to take home.

    Our Aveda Concept Spa exclusively uses Aveda products. We offer a number of spa packages and would be happy to individually create one for you. We have a Heated Indoor pool, Steam room and Sauna. Treatments available by appointment.

    Within the new conference room at Five Gables, the EXTRON Medialink controller provides simple and convenient projector control. All inputs are available near the podium for quick and easy connection of your equipment.

    Directions from the North:

    From Philadelphia, PA (2hrs) or Wilmington, DE (2hrs):

    1. Take 95 South to 896 towards Middletown (last exit in Delaware)
    2. Follow 896 to Route 301 South to Route 213 South
    3. Follow 213 to Route 50 East, turn left onto 50 East.
    4. Upon approaching Easton bear right onto Route 322 (Easton Bypass)
    5. Follow Route 322 for two miles
    6. Turn right onto Route 33 (St. Michaels Rd)
    7. Follow 10 miles into the Town of St. Michaels

    From New York (3 1/2-4hrs):

    1. Take New Jersey Turnpike to 95 South
    2. Follow instructions from Philadelphia
    3. Five Gables is located 3/4 of the way through the town of St. Michaels on the right

    Directions from the South:

    From Virginia Beach or Norfolk VA (4hrs):

    1. Take route 13 North across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel to Salisbury Maryland.
    2. In Salisbury take Route 50 West to Route 322 (about 1 hours driving time) This road is also known as Easton Bypass and the exit is from the left hand lane
    3. Follow Rt 322 to the left turn at Rt 33 for St. Michaels
    4. Follow 10 miles into the town of St. Michaels
    5. Five Gables is located 3/4 of the way through the town of St. Michaels on the right

    Directions from the East:

    From Cape May, NJ or The Lewes Ferry (2hrs from Ferry):

    1. From Lewes follow signs for Bay Bridge & Annapolis
    2. Get onto Rt 1 N for about 1 mile
    3. Take left onto Rt 404 & Rt 9 signed for Annapolis & Bay Bridge Stay on Rt 404 until you reach the town of Denton, MD
    4. Take left onto Rt 328 for Easton
    5. At the junction for Route 50 turn right on 50 West
    6. After 2 miles take left onto Rt 322, Easton Bypass Follow Route 322 for 2 miles
    7. Turn right onto Rt 33 (St. Michaels Road)
    8. Follow 10 miles into the town of St. Michaels
    9. Five Gables is located 3/4 of the way through the town of St. Michaels on the right

    Directions from the West:

    From Baltimore (2hrs), Washington D.C.( 2hrs), or Annapolis (1hr):

    1. Take Route 50 East across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge
    2. Bear right at the 50/301 split
    3. Follow Route 50 East to the town of Easton
    4. Bear right onto Route 322 (Easton Bypass)
    5. Follow Route 322 for two miles
    6. Turn right onto Route 33 (St. Michaels Rd.)
    7. Follow 10 miles into the Town of St. Michaels
    8. Five Gables is located 3/4 of the way through the town of St. Michaels on the right
