The Governor held office from 1912 to 1916. Charles Goldsborough, born in Dorchester County, was also a Governor of Maryland for one year in 1819. This spacious room on the second floor has a queen-sized four poster bed, light on two sides and en suite bathroom with bath and shower combination. West-facing eight-foot bay window provides glorious afternoon light. Amenities include television, refrigerator, ceiling fan, antique loveseat and writing desk, plentiful closet space and drawers, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Ellen Showell Room This thoughtfully decorated room has been named for Governor Phillips Lee Goldsborough's wife, a woman who loved to entertain. In 1912, Ellen Showell Goldsborough reinstated the custom of holding official receptions at Government House every Thursday. Designed for a romantic weekend with a queen-sized bed and en suite bathroom with bath and shower combination. Amenities include television, refrigerator, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. 1710 This handsome room honors the town of Easton's founding. The Maryland General Assembly purchased a two-acre site near Pitt's Bridge as the site for a new courthouse for Talbot County. After the Revolutionary War, the State Legislature created a town around the courthouse. Prior to 1950 this room was the kitchen. Easton is celebrating the 300th Anniversary this year! Cozy, comfortable and convenient room on the first floor with a queen bed and en suite bath with a walk-in shower. On a tight schedule? The 1710 is adjacent to both the kitchen and the dining room, for a quick continental breakfast. Amenities include a hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Thaddeus Sobieski Lowe This charming room was named for a man that was both scientist and spy, Thaddeus Lowe. He used the hot air balloon during the Civil War for intelligence-gathering. Hired by Lincoln in 1861, Lowe and his crew made more than 3,000 flights. Lowe had designed a generator that produced the necessary hydrogen gas on the battlefield. This mobility was unprecedented. Come dream of floating over the country in a hot air balloon, just like the Civil War spy from whom this room takes its name. The Thaddeus Lowe features twin beds that can be converted into a Kennedy king. Large walk-in shower in the en suite bathroom. Located on the ground floor for extra convenience. Amenities include a hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Garden View Each morning enjoy the view of a charming historic garden and imagine the water's edge and sailing ships in the not too distant past. The creek that runs behind the cemetery once was large enough to accommodate sailing vessels. The Hungarian armoire is hand-painted. One of Easton's Barred Owls frequently visits. Have fun with the playful-monkeys decorative theme, and look out on the lovely garden developed by a previous owner more than half a century ago. The en suite bath features a huge walk-in shower with water jets to massage away highway fatigue. The queen-sized Murphy bed is a very practical idea! Amenities include television, refrigerator, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Rates & General Information - Rates: $150 to $175
