Welcome to Lodgecliffe on the Choptank B & B!
Built in 1898, Lodgecliffe is a gracious turn-of-the-century country home perched on a bluff overlooking the wide expanse of the lower Choptank River, the setting for James Michener's book, Chesapeake. Owned and operated by Sarah Richardson, Lodgecliffe opened as the first bed and breakfast in Dorchester County in 1986 and quickly became a haven for locals and travelers alike. After Sarah's passing in 2005, the home was lovingly renovated by her son Dawson. Each guest suite was beautifully redesigned and a large deck and screen porch were added taking full advantage of its stunning river setting. In keeping with Sarah's tradition of hospitality, we invite you to experience the delight, charm, romance and relaxation that is Lodgecliffe.
Enjoy a refreshing night's sleep in one of our four guest suites on our exclusive Comphy Co. bed sheets. Be awakened by the aromas coming from the kitchen. Fill up your Deneen Pottery mug with freshly ground and brewed coffee, ready by seven am. A full gourmet breakfast is served each morning at nine in our dining room or, weather permitting, on our screen porch overlooking the Choptank. Savor such sumptuous entrees as cranberry sourdough french toast, chesapeake puff pancake, or eggs benedict with pancetta and fresh spinach. Also enjoy fresh homemade sweet rolls, cobblers, seasonal fruit or smoothies. Our prices on weddings, receptions, rehearsal dinners, family reunions, corporate retreats & meeting spaces, and other special occasions will vary depending on the event, number of guests, and space needed. We ask that inquiries be made directly for package details and personal event coordination.
