    The Elmere House - Wells, Maine

    Welcome to The Elmere House Bed and Breakfast of Wells, Maine. Our Grand Opening was in early July 2008, and we had many happy visitors pass through our doors during last season. We are excited about 2009 and hope that you will stay with us. We are close to all the activities and attractions but off in quiet and peaceful setting.

    The Elmere House Bed & Breakfast is a beautifully restored, historic antique farm house. The interior retains much of charm of the mid-1800's with its warm and cozy furnishings and completely refinished, original wood floors. Yet, you'll find that it has all the amenities and comfort features of a new and modern accommodation.

    Enjoy A Delicious Breakfast Each Morning

    All guest rooms have individually controlled air conditioning/heating. All rooms have new large wall-mounted LCD televisions, High Definition DVD players and there is a DVD library available on premises. All rooms have roomy, private baths. Free wireless Internet is available throughout the building. Our first floor room, The Kezar Lake Room, is specially designed for the physically challenged in mind, but is equally comfortable for any guests. All other accommodations are located on the second floor, including the elegant Moosehead Lake Suite.

    The Elmere House Bed & Breakfast is a special place to stay in Southern Maine where you can have all the comfort and special attention of a New England Bed & Breakfast, modern amenities, and also stay close to the many nearby seacoast attractions and activities.     Finding the Elmere House Bed and Breakfast of Wells, Maine is easy. It is located at 525 Post Road (U.S. Route 1). See instructions below:

    From The Maine Turnpike

    • Exit the Maine Turnpike, Interstate 95 at Exit 19 in Wells, Maine
    • Take a left at the traffic lights after the toll booth
    • Proceed for 0.5 miles and turn right on to Chapel Road.
    • Follow Chapel Road to the end (1.2 miles).
    • Take a right on to U.S. Route 1 and travel 1.6 miles
    • The Elmere House Bed & Breakfast will be on your left hand side
    • Look For Our Sign.

    If you are traveling from the north on Route 1 to The Elmere House, continue through Wells center towards Ogunquit. The Elmere House Bed & Breakfast will be on your left, approximately 1 mile south past Wells Plaza Shopping Center.

    From The South On Route 1

    • Continue north on Route 1 through York and Ogunquit, Maine
    • You will pass through Ogunquit Village (small downtown area)
    • From Ogunquit Village, continue north on Route 1 for 2.8 miles
    • The Elmere House Bed & Breakfast will be on your right hand side
    • Look For Our Sign.

    From sandy beaches to rocky coastline walks, the Southern Coast of Maine has a lot to offer. Wells Beach, Moody Beach, Footbridge Beach, Ogunquit Beach, Drakes Island Beach, and Crescent Beach, are all within 5 miles of the Elmere House. Quaint Ogunquit Village is less than 3 miles to the south and accessible via the seacoast trolley, Shoreline Explorer. The trolley is a fun way to experience the area. Ask at the front desk for information about the Shoreline Explorer.

    In Ogunquit, you can talk a short hike on Marginal Way, a splendid coastline walk on a path over the rugged coastline. Along the Marginal Way, you'll find spots to sit and rest, take some photos, have a lunch or make your way to or from Perkins Cove or Ogunquit Beach. In Perkins Cove, you'll find a large selection of great restaurants, quaint shops and boutiques selling many wonderful gifts and authentic Maine souvenirs. The many attractions of the Wells-Ogunquit area are sure to please. We are sure that you'll find plenty to do, great dining and fun times.
