Earth

In collaboration with James Beard Award winning chef and Boston restaurateur, Ken Oringer, Earth comes to life in 2011. A dining room inspired by nature and built with the wood harvested from Hidden Pond, featuring a floor to ceiling fireplace, open kitchen and menu featuring fresh ingredients from two onsite organic gardens, as well local cheeses, seafood and meats.

The Tree Spa

Our treatment rooms are built into the canopy of the forest. You’ll be immersed in the healing and restorative fresh air of the pristine beach forest. Our exclusive use of Farmaesthetics face and body potions promises a treatment to remember.

Beach Safari

Meet Bessie, our 1956 Ford Station Wagon, for your visit to Goose Rocks Beach. Ride in classic style to one of the most beautiful and sandy beaches on the coast of Maine. We have everything you need for a great day at the beach; we’ll provide the chairs, towels, cooler and bottled water…you bring your flip flops and sun hat. And when the salt air peaks your appetite, just give us a call…we’ll be happy to deliver lunch to you. Or if motivated, stroll over to the Tides Beach Club, our sister inn, where the cool dining room and chic atmosphere are sure to delight!



The Farm

Take a stroll down the lane from your cottage or stop on the way home from the beach and you’ll find our organic Farm waiting to be explored. Whether you want to gather just ripened tomatoes and basil for a light salad or berries for a summer time dessert, the harvest of the farm is for you! And don’t forget to arrange a delightful vase of flowers from our expansive selection of annuals and perennials. The potting shed has an assortment of vases and plenty of snipping shears to get you started. Enjoy!

Nestled in the treetops, overlooking the beach forest, is the new Tree Spa at Hidden Pond. The three treetop spa rooms, 8 feet above the ground, are connected by a catwalk woven through the trees. Guests can choose from a selection of massages, facials and body treatments that focus on the restoration of health, energy and wellness using the resort’s signature brand of soothing oils and lotions. Treatments will also incorporate ingredients picked fresh from Hidden Pond’s gardens including rosemary, mint and lavender.

Hidden Pond is thrilled to be collaborating with famed Boston chef and James Beard Award-winner Ken Oringer in creating Earth, our open air restaurant overlooking the pond and nightly bonfire.

Earth’s MENU focuses on “farm to fork” freshness, with a menu that derives inspiration from the Farm at Hidden Pond and the numerous local dairy farms, cheese makers, foragers, farmers and fisherman of the Southern Coast of Maine.

Menu highlights include Peekytoe Crab Toasts with Avocado and French Cocktail Sauce; Whole Grain Pappardelle with Fingerling Potatoes, String Beans, and Garden Pesto; Seafood Paella with Herbs and Garden Peppers; and Slow Braised Short Ribs with Farro, Cauliflower, and Currant Vinaigrette. For lighter fare at lunch, dine poolside at the Farm Bar, a rustic yet elegant lunchtime spot, overlooking our pond and organic vegetable garden.

Equally thoughtful attention has been paid to Earth’s wine and cocktail menus. Cocktails are inspired by the earth too, incorporating lemon balm, sweet cicely, and basil among other flowers and herbs. Earth will also feature a superb collection of our own infused liquors and spirits to showcase our local bounty. Wines will be available from around the world including Argentina, Australia and Chile.

Earth’s décor makes the most of its setting with a soothing and rustic palette; bringing the outdoors inside with creative use of tree trunks intricately woven into a wall design, a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace and an open-air patio overlooking a second on-property vegetable garden and pond. Outside in the gardens, contemporary Zimbabwe stone sculptures further enhance the natural surroundings and provide a subtle, primal undertone.

Dining at Earth is an adventure for your senses…a visually stunning dining room with incredibly high ceiling and soft flame lighting, the hand selected rhythmic music filling the air and mingling with the lively conversation. The enticing aromas wafting from the kitchen, perfectly melding with the crackling of the nightly bonfire, will lure in you for a memorable dining experience.

The Sand Bar Grille and Back Porch Bar are the perfect gathering spots for family and friends. After a day at the beach, a refreshing dip in our salt water pool is a must. Our plush towels and comfy lounge chairs are the perfect place for an afternoon snooze.

Hungry? The Grille has a terrific and kid friendly menu, including items such a perfectly grilled burgers and sausages, homemade baked goods and brisk, freshly brewed iced tea each afternoon from 2:30 - 4pm. In season, the Grille is open to guests daily from 11:30am till dusk.

The Back Porch Bar, located in the Guest’s Lodge, is an intimate, screened setting overlooking the pool and nightly bonfire. Serving up the best local brews and fruit infused cocktails, you're guaranteed to find something you'll like. There isn't a better place to belly up, so what are you waiting for?

Once evening settles in the woods, you have to ask yourself, when was the last time you roasted marshmallows and savored a s’more? Kids of all ages delight in the simple pleasures of a starlit night and the perfectly roasted marshmallow...every night you're here if you like!

Goose rocks beach is a walker or runners paradise!

A long walk will take you to trails that overlook rocky islands and Batson's River, a saltwater estuary home to many coastal birds and marshlands.  The calm, clear water is especially welcoming as the tide recedes and reveals large rock formations and a shell seeker's delight of sand dollars and coastal gems.

A day at the beach - we’ll drive you there on our trolley or Bessie and our “Beach Tenders” will be waiting for you with everything you need for a perfect day at the beach - comfy beach chairs, lush oversized towels, a cooler for your favorite refreshments and snacks, lunch and specialty treats delivered from the Tides Beach Club restaurant.

The winding country roads along the shore and through historic neighborhoods are the perfect scene for hopping on one of our beach cruiser bicycles.  The wind whisking through your hair and a grin from ear to ear, you'll feel your energies lift and your spirits soar as you discover Goose Rocks Beach and the gorgeous Cape Porpoise area.  

After a long day of bike riding and the beach, take a refreshing dip in one of the pools at Hidden Pond. Visit Judith Kinsman, our artist in residence, every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon...there is plenty of inspiration to be found in the Farm at Hidden Pond.  Each night, the roaring bonfire is an ideal way to salute the day and welcome the starlit night while roasting marshmallows and sipping a warm indulgence.

Join us for yoga, tai chi or a rejuvenating stretching session with a personal trainer each morning at the Farm at Hidden Pond, Monday through Saturday at 9:00am. The intimate and well equipped fitness center, located at the Tree Spa, is available daily from 8:00am to 10:00pm.

From North or South on Interstate 95, (The Maine Turnpike)

Take the Kennebunk/Kennebunkport exit #25.  Take a left on Route 35 South towards Kennebunkport and follow Route 35/Fletcher Street to a small rotary. Go halfway around and stay on Rte 35.
At the traffic light, turn left and immediately right, keeping the fire station on your Right and the Police Station on your left. You are still on Route 35, now Summer Street.
Follow Summer Street to second traffic light at Route 9. Turn left, you will cross the Kennebunk River and enter “Dock Square”. Proceed through town to the Stop sign at the top of Spring Street and turn Right. (Route 9)
Take your next left on School Street and proceed approximately 5 miles, (still Route 9) through the village of Cape Porpoise to Goose Rocks Road.  You will see the Clock Farm on your left, (an old Farmhouse with a Clock Tower).
Turn left on Goose Rocks Road approximately 1 mile, Hidden Pond will be on the right.

Take the Kennebunk/Kennebunkport exit #25.  Take a left on Route 35 South towards Kennebunkport and follow Route 35/Fletcher Street to a small rotary. Go halfway around and stay on Rte 35.
