On Thursdays, we bring retired Jazz Legend Brad Terry out of retirement to muse with our guests. Friday night the Inn provides live dinner music featuring local musician Ken Karby and his jazz guitar stylings. www.kenkarby.com Often you can hear the Innkeeper (Matt Mattingly) jump in and play a set along with Ken. Often sitting in on Friday's is the Don Roy Trio. Don has performed at the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center and has been a frequent guest on Garrison Keillors Prairy Home Companion. Saturday brings us Gary Whitton, famed guitarist.
The Wine Bar at the PineCrest Inn is a very special place. Be sure to check our event calendar for our scheduled wine tasting events. With only 4 bar stools, a select few have occasion to sit and while away the time. The bar also features great draft beers from a select list of exceptional Maine breweries. We choose the best and rotate their seasonal beers throughout the year. Our Restaurant menu is available in the Wine pub.
The Wine Bar boasts of a growing and expansive list of Wines. We pick up new wines constantly. Since the spring of 2009, the list has grown from 70 wines to over 110 wines and will probably see several dozen more. We carry wines that we like. Worst case scenario, is stocking a wine that no one buys and we don't like. Best case scenario is stocking wines that no one buys and we are forced to drink them ourselves. Our goal is to have 60 bottles priced under $30 and to feature 30 wines by the glass. Our estate list is also growing. This is a list of higher level select varietal wines that are produced in usually limited quantity and usually estate production.
Several times a year, we host winemakers from around the world and a select few are able to join us as we learn about their individual wine making technique and about their own wine experiences. To date we have hosted wine makers from Australia, Chile, Argentina, California, and many others locations.
Morning's at the Inn are a special time. Rise and shine to a complimentary gourmet breakfast each morning of your stay. Breakfast is served at private tables in either the main dining room on the screened side porch. Our breakfasts are prepared with farm fresh eggs, meats, baked goods, fruits and vegetables. We use local ingredients whenever possible, much of which is all natural and organic. Our delicious sausage is freshly made from Windy Hill farm in Windham, ME. We alternate a prepared entrée each morning and feature either a sweet dish or savory dish.
Our signature dishes are many, but to list a few:
- Bourbon Vanilla French toast with hand cut Challah bread, sautéed fruit and a side of sausage
- Sweet Maine Cakes with blueberries or sautéed apples and served with our own real maple syrup made fresh each spring from local maple trees
- PineCrest Benedict - over easy farm fresh eggs with a spicy hollandaise sauce, over a thick cut grilled ham steak resting on grilled multigrain bread
- Pancakes topped with granny smith apples and served with sausage and a dollop of freshly whipped cream
As always we serve our unique signature coffee (a PineCrest inn secret recipe). You will have to taste to appreciate. Coffee lovers savor our house blend.
