An historic home in historic Belfast, Maine
On beautiful Penobscot BayWelcome to
Belfast Wealthy Poor House B&BOur classic, Federal home was built in 1824 by Mr. Frederick Lewis. He sold it to William O. Poor, owner of the oldest drug store in the state of Maine. Mr. Poor married a lady with the first name of Wealthy. Thus we are the proud owners of the 180 year old Wealthy Poor House!
We look forward to meeting you, welcoming you, as a guest, into our home, and sharing it with you. We promise to do everything to make you comfortable in your home-away-from-home.
Malcolm, a former Merchant Navy ship captain, comes from Devon, England, and more recently from Newquay, Cornwall where he was the harbor master. He enjoys a "Full English Breakfast" and hopes you will join him. It will truly "set you up for the day". Of course the breakfast menu includes more familiar American breakfast items too. Carol originally came from Connecticut, but spent the past two years in Newquay, where they were married in October, 2004. She prepared breakfast for many fishermen and boaters in the café she ran in Newquay Harbor. Afternoon tea-time is observed in the traditional English manner, with Carol's chocolate chip cookies and other baked goodies as well as coffee. Iced tea or lemonade are offered in the summer.
