  • Introduction

New Orleans is the unique American City. It charms us with its culture, food, music and architecture. When it comes to lovely welcoming bed and breakfasts, Southern Comfort is that unique combination of what makes New Orleans so special!  Located in one of the most beautiful Uptown neighborhoods, Southern Comfort's history is as colorful as its surrounding neighbors and lush gardens.

Once part of Bouligny Plantation, this 1880's raised center hall cottage is enhanced by its Greek Revival influence. Decorative detail was the primary thrust for builders in this architectural sytle. Enhanced by the lavish use of columns, double parlors and classically inspired windows, Southern Comfort is a delight to the eye and spirit.

Visitors have long flocked to the Garden and University District seeking a refreshing change from the nearby French Quarter. Only a short streetcar ride to the Quarter, Southern Comfort is conveniently located two blocks off St. Charles Avenue. Enjoy hours of exploring the beauty in one of the most architecturally diverse neighborhoods in the country. The mood is historic, romantic and offers a glimpse of life long ago!

The original French owners would delight in the recent renovations restoring Southern Comfort to its proud heritage. The front verandah with white railings, large columns and classic shuttered ceiling to four windows give guests a first glimpse into the charms of Southern Comfort. The interior is enhanced with tall windows, hardwood floors made of wide pine enlayed iwth mahogany and oak, shining under the 12-foot ceilings. Loving attention has been given into decorating this beautiful home with impressive American and European antiques. Each room has a distinctive personality and flavor.

Enjoy a continental breakfast each morning in the beautiful antique dining room with matching old-fashioned sideboard. The chandelier lending soft lighting to the room is original and dates back to the 1800's. Guests can also choose to enjoy that first morning cup of coffee on the front verandah or in the tranquil back garden.

After years of extensive traveling, Cindee Quick has returned to her native home in New Orleans. Dedicated to the preservation of its history, Cindee has a love and interest in historical renovations.
