Travelers are always looking for memorable and relaxing experiences. Let’s discover more through the words of our innkeepers. Many thanks to Sherri Rickard for sharing her own secrets with BBOnline.com!
Why do most travelers stay at your inn?

Travelers stay to celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, honeymoons and for romantic getaways.

What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn?

We are best known for our beautiful view from our porches overlooking the lake.

We are a historic home with large rooms with king size beds, inground pool, boat dock and waterfront view of Lake Barkely.

We love the history of the plantation home and the large rooms with high ceilings.

If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?

The #1 reason to visit is to enjoy all the lake area has to offer: antiquing, nature hikes, fishing, boating, canoeing and kayaking.

What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?

"Your home is like those plantation homes you tour except you get to sleep in this one. It is like a museum"

What’s the best kept secret about the area?

The best kept secret is how pretty the Lakes are here in Western, KY.

If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?

As much or as little as they want, we have hiking, biking, canoeing, horseback riding, nature center, planetarium, elk and bison prairie, golden pond, marinas, fishing, boating and of course my fav, antiquing -- or you can choose one of our many places to sit and watch the boats roll by and just escape the hustle and bustle of a hurried life.

Is there anything within walking distance of your inn?

There is a boat dock and a swimming pool within walking distance.

What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?

From the filet mignon to vegetarian dishes Patti's 1880's is hands down one of the best restaurants in the area. The Oasis southwest grill is also a favorite of the area with a Tex-Mex flair.
