EventsimageimageAPRIL 14 Marcella's Kitchen to host Empty Bowls Project fundraiser in April
Draffenville, KY- Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger and was created by The Imagine Render Group.
According to the group’s website, the basic premise is simple: “Potters and other craftspeople, educators and others work with the community to create handcrafted bowls.” Guests will be invited to sample a taste of Marshall County’s finest restaurant and catering services while at the event.
In exchange for a cash donation, guests are asked to keep a bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. “The money raised is donated to an organization working to end hunger and food insecurity,” in this case, Marcella’s Kitchen. Pre-event tickets are just $15, with tickets being $18 at the door. The Empty Bowl Project will take place at the Marshall County High School Commons area from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Paducah, KY- The murder of an Amish man in Crittenden County, Kentucky is the centerpiece of “Missing”a new book by Shelley Shepard Gray. Gray, from southern Ohio, will be discussing her book at the McCracken County Public Library on Friday, at 2:00. The book, published by Harper Collins went on sale March 20th and will be available for sale at the event.
When Perry Borntrager’s body is found at the bottom of an abandoned well, the questions begin. The small Amish community then endures an extensive investigation by outsiders into their beliefs and life style as do the Englisch who live nearby them. The mysteries in the book revolve around friends of the murdered man in a community known for its serenity as well as its close knit ties. There are secrets to be discovered concerning the murder which will impact the entire county.

Paducah, KY- In 2011, Glen announced that he was suffering from Alzheimer 's disease. The country legend decided to record one more album and hit the road one more time before his condition worsened.
Campbell released Ghost on the Canvas to warm reviews and has enjoyed great support from fans during his farewell tour. In February 2012, he was honored at the Grammy Awards. Campbell received the Lifetime Achievement Award Grammy.

Paducah, KY- If you are looking for something entertaining and educational for your children, check out “Story Time” at the McCracken County Public Library. Each Tuesday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., join Ms. Retta, Bob Dog and Ms. Cherrie for a story brought to life through puppets and songs. Every week has a different theme which is carefully selected for preschoolers.
March 20, the theme will be “Favorite Things.” On March 27, there will be a special musical story time entitled “Cat and Fiddler.” April 3, there will not be a story due to Spring Break, but on April 10, “Bells and Maybelle” will be the story selection. An arts celebration will be held on April 17. Henry Possum will be the center of attention on April 24, with “The Tortoise and the Jack Rabbit” appearing on May 1. On Saturday May 5th, there will be a special Derby Day Story Time at 11 a.m.
