Barbwire and Roses is a unique Bed and Breakfast located only one mile from Kentucky Lake. When you arrive, I meet, greet, and get you settled in ... then it's all about 'You'.
I am proud to share my ranch with families and singles which are treated more like "family" than "guests", for when you stay here ... you become Family. If you like to stay at fancy places with granite, fine china, and white carpet, you're not going to find it here. We put our efforts into cozy and clean. This keeps our rates affordable.
Our location is the "Cats Meow" if you are visiting Paducah, Kentucky (home of the Quilters Association), or Grand Rivers, Kentucky, which is the home of the famous Patti's 1880's (we are on their favorites list). It is 5 miles from Barbwire and Roses Bed and Breakfast.
Kentucky Lake is only 1 mile away and we are surrounded by many Golf Courses. Hunters from "Land Between The Lakes" also find comfort here during the hunting seasons. We are open year round, but do suggest you book your accommodations early, to guarantee the accommodation that you prefer.

Big Bon Fires ... Small Bon Fires ... we can provide. Want to roast some hotdogs? I can provide some of the finest live country music at your request with a small extra charge, since many well-known country artists have frequented here. If you are a boater, no worries ... I have plenty of room for your boat, and power for you to plug into. Just let me know your needs before arrival.
Best of the Best is the Hot Southern Breakfast served each morning at the time of your request. "It's Good".
Barbwire and Roses is located at the intersection of #Hwy 62 and Purchase Parkway in Calvert City, Kentucky, which also intersects with Interstate 24.
"EVERYONE and ANYONE" is Welcome!

Travelers are always looking for memorable and relaxing experiences. Let’s discover more through the words of our innkeepers. Many thanks to Lorna Helton and Carrie Smith for sharing their own secrets with BBOnline.com! Why do most travelers stay at your inn? Most travelers stay with us because we aren’t high maintenance and we’re authentic. How many places can genuinely make that claim? You won’t find another bed and breakfast that has what we have to offer. Here, you’re surrounded by green fields and beautiful horses – no dark city streets or congested areas - just pure, open country.
What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn? We are best known for our Southern cooking. There isn’t a soul that isn’t pleased once they have taken a bite of our savory, fluffy, warmly delicious biscuits or our thick-sliced smoked bacon. Good food makes an inn stand out, and we’re happy to say that our customers are always satisfied.
If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit? The number one reason to come visit us would be to enjoy all that nature has to offer. Too often are we confined to city life and its accompanied stresses, but where we live, you can sit back with a cup of coffee and listen to the sounds of nature without interruptions.
What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn? Our favorite compliment was made by a couple that exclaimed that out of all of the bed and breakfasts they had visited, we were their number one B&B and that they can’t wait to come back.
What’s the best kept secret about the area? If we answered that, then it wouldn’t be a secret.
If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area? We would recommend visiting Patti’s 1880s Settlement, as well as checking out Land Between the Lakes, Paducah, Grand Rivers, and other nearby historic towns, and of course Kentucky and Barkley Lakes, especially if you’re into fishing and boating.
Is there anything within walking distance of your inn? There is the best Mexican restaurant across the street from our inn (Los Three Amigos) that serves the most delicious Hispanic cuisine at affordable prices. There is also a spacious pond that everyone is welcome to enjoy.
What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area? It’s difficult to pick a favorite food, for there’s something to appease any taste. Looking for authentic Mexican or Italian cooking? Try Los Three Amigos and Mama D’s. Are you craving ice cream on a sultry summer day? There’s a Dairy Queen around the corner. There are also various fast food chains within a mile or two, such as Subway, McDonalds, and Arby’s. There are plenty of options for everyone.
Any good area guides/websites that travelers could reference? Sure. Just to name a few: http://www.pattis-settlement.com/, http://www.grandrivers.org/, http://www.lbl.org/, and http://www.paducah.travel/.
How many rooms does your inn have? We have four rooms: a Master Suite, Single Bedroom and Bath, and two loft rooms.
Do you accept pets? Of course! Horses and dogs are always welcome to stay with us. If you need additional accommodations, just let us know.
-
We are pet friendly - If you are traveling with your dog, just let us know. Feel free to bring its favorite toy, leash, and dish.
We are also horse equipped - if traveling with horses, please don't forget those Coggins papers and their feed and hay preference. "Wranglers", located in the well-known "Land Between The Lakes", has the nicest of horseback riding trails. Many people bed here with their horses and go ride their horses there, instead of the enduring the inconvenience of camping with dirty bath houses, rude Forest Rangers and the unnecessary rules they have. There are NO rules here! -
