The Cottage on the River
The Indians knew the valley of the Solomon River in north central Kansas as a splendid summer hunting ground. Buffalo, elk, and antelope grazed on abundant prairie grasses and quenched their thirst in the cool waters of the Solomon under cottonwood trees of immense proportions. In the late 1860's white settlers found their way to the valley and found themselves enchanted by the gently embracing hills, rich soil, and mild weather. Today's visitors share this same natural beauty and experience the peace of
the Solomon Valley.
