  • Insider's Info

Travelers are always looking for memorable and relaxing experiences. Let’s discover more through the words of our innkeepers. Many thanks to Shirley Hellem for sharing her own secrets with!
Why do most travelers stay at your inn?

Most travelers stay here because they are going to Miami University to see their children, or going to visit the university with their children.

What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn?

It is very clean. All my rooms have a private bath and it is very quiet. I do an awesome breakfast. College Corner got its name when the five colleges in Oxford merged to make Miami University.

If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?

The #1 reason is to visit Miami University for ball games, swim meets, figure skating, and many other activities at the university. We also have people visit us who lived here or were born here. My place used to be a Doctor's home and office. That is how it got its name. Some even worked here. The daughter of the first doctor who worked here still comes to visit.

What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?

The best compliment I get is they love the hospitality. They really love the place because it is so clean and quiet.

What’s the best kept secret about the area?

We are in Indiana and 5 miles from the University.

If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?

If you are here four nights, you should go see the University and Hueston Woods State Park. There are many places to go. Shopping, Cincinnati Metamora, a little town to visit, Little Nashville, or a ball game in Cincinnati. Oxford College Corner is nice in its self; it is split between Ohio and Indiana. Half of the school is in Ohio and half in Indiana. There are several churches. There is also a park with lots of activities and a community center.

Is there anything within walking distance of your inn?

The school which is half in Indiana and half in Ohio, is 2 blocks away. We also have a park which is 3 blocks away with playground equipment and a track around it. Churches, Bars, and a little home-cooked country restaurant and doctor's office are all within walking distance of the B&B.

What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?

There is a small little restaurant with home-cooked food; lots of students come here to eat. We also have a bar which has very good homemade pizza.

Any good area guides/websites that travelers could reference?

Oxford is probably the best guide and website to use.

How many rooms does your inn have?

I have four rooms plus two rooms which share a bath. Total of six with five baths; two on first floor. Two rooms have king size beds the rest have queen size beds. One king room has a queen size hide-a-bed, and the king has a twin size bed.

    Do you accept pets?

I don't normally allow pets since I have allergies. There is a place in Oxford for pets I am unfamiliar with it.
