Oxbow Barn Apartment

The Oxbow Barn Apartment was built in 1915 and relocated on the Oxbow grounds in 1981. The bed here is a Doughty original four poster canopy bed built in the woodshop at the back of the barn. The Apartment has a living room, with an adjoining kitchen and dining area. The couch converts into a queen bed, and there is also a roll away bed to make plenty of spare sleeping quarters for extra guests.

An Arabian Gelding appears on the room name plate which is a character from Al Doughty's novel, "No Peach For A Rebel". The bed in this room is queen sized made in a cannonball design. The chest of drawers and chiffarobe fit perfectly into this room.

General J.O.. Shelby

General J.O. Shelby's Room has an excellent view out the west windows over the Oxbow grounds. The headboard on the bed is a delicately hand carved work of art. This room also includes an antique dresser. Walk through the connecting passageway to find spacious closets. You will notice that the Doughty's finished the bathroom with old barn siding.

General N.B. Forrest

A cherry wood bed made by the Consider Willet Furniture Company decorates the General N.B. Forrest Room. The bathroom has plumbing from 1929. The view from the windows in this room look out on the front of the Oxbow property which is lined with a post and rail fence and a windmill.

An incredible seven-foot high headboard reaches out to you in the Shiloh Room. You will also find matching marble top dressers, matching love seat and chair, a mirror that reflects an earlier time. Notice the camel back trunk at the foot of the bed which is a restored work of art.

Pilot Knob

The Pilot Knob Room has a variety of furniture to enjoy. First, a four poster canopy bed made from aged barn timber. The side drapes on this bed are made of candle wicking material. Other furniture includes a fainting couch, a marble top dresser. The bathroom in the Pilot Knob Room has the walls and ceiling done in aged barn siding.
