  • Eagle Watching February 6, 2016

      Attend "2016 Eagle Trek", an eagle watching event, on Saturday, February 7, stay with us for two nights on Friday and Saturday night, February 6 & 7, and save 25% off your second night stay!

      Journey from our inn on Saturday, February 6, to the nearby (30 minutes) confluence of the Kaskaskia and Mississippi rivers to see the Mighty Mississippi. Watch barges go by only a "stones throw away" and join in the eagle watch. Attend "2016 Eagle Trek",a day of eagle activities(9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) at the Kaskaskia Lock and Dam sponsored by the Heartlands Conservancy. You will be able to do eagle watching with spotting scopes and meet some of the feathered inhabitants of the World Bird Sanctuary (programs at 10 & 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.) Throughout the day there will be tours of the Kaskaskia Lock and Dam as well as interpreted walks both upstream and downstream. Children will be able to make eagle crafts and go home with an eagle souvenir. Food will be available.       Return along the scenic bluff road to the inn in late afternoon, visit the quaint shops of Maeystown and enjoy dinner at Gallagher's, JFires Market Bistro, Frederico's in Waterloo, Dreamland Palace German Restaurant in Foster Pond or the Tavern at Maeystown (directly across the street from the inn).
