Travelers are always looking for memorable and relaxing experiences. Let’s discover more through the words of our innkeepers. Many thanks to Connie Davis for sharing her own secrets with BBOnline.com! Why do most travelers stay at your inn?
Most travelers come to our Inn due to our proximity to The Great River Road and Principia College.
What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn?
I think there are several things that make our Inn unique. We are located in a small quaint historic village beside the Mississippi river where the Illinois, Missouri and Mississippi rivers all come together. We are close enough to other towns to enjoy the wineries and shopping but you can come back to the village to really relax. One thing that is consistent in our guest reviews are the positive comments regarding the food served. I love to cook and see people enjoy good food.
If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?
An excellent place to relax and get away.
What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?
We have received this compliment from several guests. That they feel like family. We really strive to make our guests feel at home. I always tell new guests that I want them to feel like they are at home, except they don't have to do any work!
What’s the best kept secret about the area?
The quaint village of Elsah is often called the "town that time forgot". This is so true and a lot of even local people don't know that Elsah is here.
If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?
There are lots to do in our area. We are only 45 minutes from downtown St. Louis so you can take advantage of all the things in St. Louis. There is also a lot of history in nearby Alton. You can go antiquing, hiking, biking, horse back riding, go wine tasting, shopping, boating, go to the local water park, bird watch or just relax by the fireplace or in the garden. There are lots of great restaurants close by also.
Is there anything within walking distance of your inn?
We have a restaurant, a museum and you can always see something new each time you walk thru the village.
What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?
For a nice sit down dinner, we recommend Mississippi Half Step in Grafton. For a more casual meal and a glass of wine, we recommend Grafton Winery.
Any good area guides/websites that travelers could reference? The Alton Convention and visitor center is an excellent resource.
How many rooms does your inn have?
We have 5 rooms.

We have one room designated at pet friendly.
