  • Introduction

    City Scene Bed & Breakfast, located in Chicago, Illinois, offers guests a comfortable, private suite with one or two bedrooms, sitting room, kitchen and bath. The furnishings are a mix of antiques and collectibles and the suite has its own telephone, answering machine and television. There is a fireplace in the sitting room and a steam shower in the bath. The full kitchen allows guests to prepare breakfast at their leisure.

    This Bed & Breakfast is located on the garden level of a Victorian four-flat, constructed shortly after the 1871 Chicago Fire, on a quiet, residential street in the Sheffield Historic District of Lincoln Park. Just north of the Loop and a little west of Lake Michigan, City Scene is close to restaurants, shops, theaters, museums, parks and universities. All of Chicago's attractions are easily accessible by car or public transportation.

    Many of our guests are in the area visiting DePaul, visiting relatives, or just looking for a place to relax and enjoy while visiting the great city of Chicago.

    What are you best known for?  What makes your B&B unique?  What do you love most about your Bed and Breakfast?  

    We are best known for our great location. We are unique because we offer a private suite. Our favorite part of our B&B is our guests!

     If someone has never been to  your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?

    There’s something for everyone in Chicago! The city offers fabulous and world famous museums, a bustling transit system to take you anywhere you want to go, world class shopping, infamous Michigan Avenue and State Street, the Sears Tower, amazing restaurants and plenty of night life.

    What's the best compliment you have ever received aout your Bed and Breakfast?

    We have enjoyed compliments such as "well thought-out place", "everything is spotless", and "excellent value".

    What’s the best kept secret about the area?

    Did you know that Chicago has a zoo that is free of charge? The Lincoln Park Zoo has never charged admission and travelers from all over visit it each year.

    If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?

    When someone is staying longer than a quick weekend, we recommend several area attractions. The free Lincoln Park Zoo, the Chicago History Museum, Victory Gardens Theatre, the Art Institute, Field Museum, Navy Pier, and Millennium Park are all wonderful places to visit. We also suggest trying different restaurants in the area. There are so many and Chicago has some of the finest!

    Is there anything within walking distance of your inn? 

    From our inn you can walk to restaurants, bars, shops, museums, gardens, the zoo, public transportation, theaters, and movies.

    What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?

    John’s Place has been serving regional American cuisine since 1994 and is a great neighborhood eatery.

    Any good area guides/websites that travelers could reference?

    Choosechicago.com is a great website for area information.

    We have two rooms available.

    City Scene is on the northeast corner of Clifton and Dickens at 2101 North Clifton Avenue.

    From 90/94:

    • Exit east at Fullerton Avenue about one mile to Clifton Avenue then south three blocks to Dickens Avenue

    From Lake Shore Drive:

    • Exit west at Fullerton Avenue about one mile to Clifton Avenue then three blocks south to Dickens Avenue

    From Midway Airport: 

    • Take the Orange Line downtown and transfer to the Brown Line
    • Take the Brown Line to the Armitage Station
    • Walk west on Armitage Avenue three blocks to Clifton Avenue then one block north to Dickens Avenue

    From O'Hare Airport:

    • Take the Blue Line downtown and transfer to the Red Line
    • Take the Red Line to the Fullerton Station
    • Walk west on Fullerton Avenue three blocks to Clifton Avenue then three blocks south to Dickens Avenue

    From Union Station:

    • Walk east on Adams Street or Jackson Boulevard four blocks to the Quincy Station
    • Take the Brown Line to the Armitage Station
    • Walk west on Armitage Avenue three blocks to Clifton Avenue then one block north to Dickens Avenue
