Western Illinois
Read More
Find comfort and friendship at a Western Illinois bed and breakfast during your trip to ‘Forgottonia!' Instead of looking to Western Illinois hotels for your visit, choose one of our area inns. Our B&Bs offer the perfect atmosphere and getaway during your exploration of our 14-county region between the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers. The area, founded as a protest to inequality in state and federal transportation and industry funding, historically became “forgotten” after bills to bring development to the area were defeated in the 1960s and 1970s. Without this funded development, Western Illinois counties and towns took on a more relaxed atmosphere and lived at a much slower pace than the governmentally developed areas in Illinois.
The best of Western Illinois lodging is offered at our member inns, which reflect much of this area's quiet, peaceful lifestyle. Even if you decide to visit the city, these sanctuaries welcome you back to the harbor of friendly hospitality. While not overtly rich or developed, the towns and citizens of Western Illinois share a sense of place and self not often seen in today's modern rush. From rolling farmland to riverside life, our towns have a firm hold of their historic roots, and this unique atmosphere makes Western Illinois the perfect getaway from the stresses of life.
Our villages and towns span in atmosphere from historic restoration, to those on the brink of complete modernization. In one town you may expect to see Revolutionary figures, in another you might expect to see Aunt Bee and Opie, and in yet another you might wonder when the next big-box store might be built. The variety of life here in Western Illinois will bring you back again and again to our array of lifestyles and attractions. The Illinois Bed and Breakfast Association can direct you to the perfect inn for each visit to Western Illinois. We look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful region!'Click-on' these Western Illinois locations for a description of each IBBA member in that area.

Helpful tips for B&B Travelers
Read MoreAs a bed & breakfast traveller, here are some things you'll want to know . . . - Ask lots of questions of the innkeeper. . .every inn is different and so are their policies.
- Confirm that breakfast is included, and what is usually served. If you have special dietary restrictions, please advise the innkeeper in advance.
- Ask for clarification of their cancellation policy. Many of our inns are small, and rely on advance bookings to keep their rooms full. In the unfortunate event you'd have to cancel, what happens to your deposit?
- Policies on smoking, pets, and children vary considerably. Be sure to clarify your needs over the phone . . .it will make both you and the innkeeper more comfortable.
- Some Bed & Breakfasts have shared bath facilities. If the inn you are considering falls into that category, you may want to know how many guests will potentially be using the same restroom.
- Be sure to obtain a map and/or written directions to the inn. Get their exact street address and take their phone number with you. Maps found on the internet can be helpful, but may not be accurate enough to get you to the doorstep.
