Seven of the wineries offer picnic areas for you to bring along picnic baskets and enjoy your lunch or snacks with an award-winning southern Illinois wine. Hedman Orchard and Vineyards offers Swedish Cuisine in their Peach Barn Cafe'. You can start the trail from either end, or jump on somewhere in the middle. Rolling hills and picturesque vistas are the backdrop for the various vineyards and wineries along the way. Start your day at Union County Golf Coures which is located in the back door of The Davie School Inn. Crab Orchard Golf Club was constructed in 1958. Five sets of tees allow the golfer to select the yardage that will make the game fun. The course measures 6400 yards from the back tee, but par is 70, making golf demanding from the tips. COGC features Zoysia and Bermuda grass for tees and fairways with Bent grass on the putting surfaces. The many huge oak trees that line the fairways coupled with several water hazards make accuracy a premium. The Gambit Golf Club offers a superb championship layout routed through rolling meadows and woodlands in southernmost Illinois. The par 71 Richard Osborne design offers golfers, of all abilities, a challenging yet pleasurable golf experience. Golf Digest has given Hickory Ridge a 4-star rating for the past six years. Hickory offers a playable golf course with four sets of tees. The course can play as short as 5500 yards or as long as 6900 yards. The gold course features 50 river-sand bunkers and zoysia fairways. Kokopelli Golf Club is an award winning Steve Smyers design. The course winds its way around an old coal strip pit with great views and offers five sets of tees for various skill levels. Architect Steve Smyers has designed other award winning golf courses including Old Memorial in Tampa and Wolf Run in Indianapolis. Stone Creek Golf Club layout features a 6,970-yard wonder. The course features manicured Bermuda fairways and bent grass greens that showcase panoramic views of the Shawnee National Forest. The course is a true test of golf from the championship tees and offers forward tee placements for the higher handicap. On-site facilities include a large practice green and bunker, driving range, 18 hole championship course and pro shop.

Start your day at The Davie School Inn with a limo ride or bus tour (depending on how many ladies you have in your group) of the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail. Along the Trail there are many places to see such as Bald Knob Cross. There are places to shop such as the Timber ridge Antiques in Alto Pass. And Places to eat Hedmans Peach Barn. Or you can take a Picnic Lunch and eat Pamona Winery. A great place to have dinner is Giant City Lodge. And the best place to end the day is The Davie School Inn.
