Macadamia Meadows Farm Bed and Breakfast is for those seeking the "real" Hawaii. Our spacious country home, surrounded by our Macadamia Nut orchard, is situated on eight plus acres in the historic Kau District, on the Big Island of Hawaii. Our area boasts two unique beaches. Nearby are Papakolea [Green Sand beach]and Punalu'u [a Black Sand beach],and we're just around the corner from South Point [southern most point in the U.S.A. and believed landing sight of the first Polynesians.]  Our ideally central location makes us a great home base for easy driving times to island sites. We're 45 minutes from Hawaii Volcano National Park and the Place of Refuge and exactly 1/2 way between Hilo and Kona.
We are proud to be a working farm and  to have been farming pesticide free for almost 12 years now, and that truely is the "feel" of our property. However, if you would enjoy a natural farm setting and like to play a little tennis as well, we do have a great tennis court [with a couple of basketball hoops].

Our farm is very centrally located 1/2 way between Hilo and Kona [1 1/4 hr. driving time from each]. We're just 45. min. from the entrance to Hawaii Volcano National Park If you enjoy a taste of peaceful "old" Hawaii, then we'll make a great home base for island exploring.

Climate
The Big Island is home to 11 of the worlds 13 climate zones. You can go from desert to rainforest all in one afternoon. Our home is located at 880 ft. elevation. January nights are around 60F and daytimes 78F to 82F. July brings night temps around 70F and daytimes 82F to 84F. With rare acceptation our property has a gentle 5 m.p.h. trade wind, which makes us "just right". Rainfall averages 40 to 60 inches per year. Enough to keep our Macadamias growing nicely and our lawns green [we hope].

Places to eat
Our country location doesn't mean you have to go hungry. First we'll start you off with a sumptuous breakfast incorporating local tropical fruits and our farm fresh Macadamias. We have 5 eating places within 2 miles of us. You can get everything from take out pizza to a full sit down meal. Closing times vary per restaurant and range between 5 and 9 p.m.

Grocery Store
Island Market is just 2 miles from us and open most nights to 7:30 p.m. For incidentals, Wong Yuen store is just around the corner.

Children with well-supervised parents are welcome. We ask that when children are out enjoying our grounds and farm that they be accompanied by an adult at all times.
