WOW…Check out the new Variety Works Venue! This lovely old historic building has now been transformed into the perfect facility for weddings or any kind of gathering. And what a great location!

The long, hot summer this year hasn’t stopped the James Madison Inn and Conference Center from starting a new project. Have you ever noticed the historic building next to the Conference Center? It’s called The Variety Works and it is a very special structure originally built in the late 1870s. An article from 1895 says that the Variety Works manufactured all kinds of furniture and dealt extensively in building materials, lumber, windows, and scroll work. Madison Markets now sits on the original site and The Variety Works is the only remaining building from a thriving business of the past. We’re getting it ready for December events and weddings. The Variety Works is really going to be a unique venue for the Madison area!

There sure was a lot happening in July at The James Madison Inn and Conference Center! Everyone was really motivated by all the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in Madison, GA activities. It was pretty exciting here since we had several “Special Guests” staying with us throughout all the filming. A big highlight was the Drivin’ N’ Cryin’ benefit concert Friday, July 15th to raise funds for the Anaiah Rucker Building Fund and Special Needs Trust. It was held across the street at Town Park so we were right in the middle of all the action.

Friday evening at 7:00pm, the band GLOW is performing during the picnic right across the street in Town Park. JMI will pack you a scrumptious Southern picnic in a monogrammed JMI cooler (your gift to keep) for you to take to the picnic, along with two lawn chairs. After the concert, from 10:00pm to 11:00pm, we are offering a JMI Sweet Southern Goodnight in the lobby with our signature cookies and milk.
