Constructed on Atlantic Avenue in 1905 by builder John Mann, the house is modeled after the Rockefeller Cottage on Jekyll Island. Banker Fred W. Hoyt, his wife Kate, and their three boys, Charles, Willis & Wadleigh, resided here until Mr. Hoyt's death in 1927. The Everett Mizell family enjoyed a comfortable life in this grand home for the next half-century--and now it welcomes you to enjoy what they so loved.
Hoyt House offers 10 spacious guest rooms, a heated swimming pool and hot tub, 4 public salons with original hand-tiled fireplaces, afternoon refreshments, bikes, a fully stocked video library and gently rocking porch swings. Luxurious leather sofas in front of the fireplace invite you to sit awhile and relax with a glass of your favorite beverage or listen to a piano serenade offered by a fellow guest.
The beautiful gardens include a heated pool with hot tub. Lounge chairs, umbrella shaded tables and an old fashioned gazebo complete the relaxing picture. What better place to spend a lazy afternoon. After a day at the beach, you can walk to 25 restaurants in The Historic District of Fernandina Beach. All just a short way from our front door.
The garden and Gazebo are often decorated for weddings and other special events hosted on the landscaped grounds of Hoyt House. The view from our front wrap-around veranda is of the historic St. Peter's Episcopal Church, built in 1861, and the site of many beautiful celebrations and gatherings. Come enjoy this charming home as much as we do.
