  • Insider's Info

Travelers are always looking for memorable and relaxing experiences. Let’s discover more through the words of our innkeepers. Many thanks to Eliza Fulton for sharing her own secrets with!
Why do most travelers stay at your inn?

Most travelers love the convenience of the location, being in the heart of downtown and yet on a quiet street. They also always comment about the beautiful gardens and the ambience of the historic 1914 character of the house. It is a special place. Breakfast is always also a hit.

What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique?

We are best known for our uncommonly pretty gardens, front and back porches where people can relax and enjoy the birds and flowers. Many people also really enjoy the intimate hot tub in the back gardens which looks at Red Mountain. It is very peaceful. This past year we added a Sixth Circuit medieval labyrinth to the back gardens. This provides the opportunity for people to enjoy the quiet calm and solitude of the labyrinth walk.

What do you love most about your inn?

Many people comment on the feeling of the Inn. They like that it feels like home, warm and welcoming, and many also appreciate the sharing of the local history by David and information on local attractions and restaurants – not to mention the exceptional pampering experiences that abound in Glenwood Springs. Eliza enjoys doing the market research and quality control in this area!

If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?

Glenwood Springs is famous for its natural mineral Hot Springs and for Doc Holliday! Glenwood Hot Springs is the largest Hot Springs pool in the world. We also have Yampa Vapor Caves – Yampa means big medicine. These caves were discovered by the Ute Indians. People today still enjoy the detoxifying benefits of the underground steamy caves and other health treatments offered here. We also have the Glenwood Caverns adventure Park, fishing, rafting, bicycle riding, hiking, shopping and just enjoying the beauty of the Valley.

What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?

The best complement any guest can give us, is a return visit. We look forward to meeting previous guests’ friends and family as they bring others back to share their experience.

What’s the best kept secret about the area?

The best kept secret is probably our location. Guests enjoy being able to walk almost everywhere and also really like that the River Trail is only a couple of blocks away. We provide ordinary bicycles for folks to use during their stay in Glenwood Springs.

If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?

If someone is staying four nights in Glenwood Springs they could choose to spend time here enjoying the Valley and also go up Valley to Aspen or Snowmass where they can see the mastodon remains. They could also hike Hanging Lake, which is beautiful, and explore the many hiking trails here and in the canyon. One could go for a rafting trip or fish in our Gold Metal waters. They could go to the Glenwood Adventure Park and take the Fairy Cave’s tour or ride on the swing that catapults people out over the canyon, the alpine slide or roller coaster. For the less adventurous they could simply enjoy our fine restaurants, visit the Historic Hotel Colorado that has been restored to the days of Teddy Roosevelt, enjoy the local shopping and relax with a good book. We are also only about an hour and a half away from National Monument in Grand Junction which is near the Utah border and displays a very different type of terrain. Really the possibilities are endless.

Is there anything within walking distance of your inn?

Yes, Glenwood Springs is a small town and people can walk from our in to downtown, the Hot Springs pool, the history Museum, the art center, or visit Doc Holliday's Memorial in the Pioneer Cemetery.

What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?

Glenwood Springs boasts many excellent local restaurants. Juicy Lucy's is an old time favorite with fresh seafood, steaks, elk and more. The Pullman is across from the train depot and offers a diverse menu of eclectic choices. The Rivers Restaurant is right on the river and in the summer you can eat on the patio. The Glenwood Brewpub makes its own beers and has a nice array of sandwiches and salads. We also have several Mexican restaurants like Fiesta Guadalajara and many Asian restaurants like the May Palace and J. H. Chen. Italian restaurants include the Italian Underground which has been a local favorite restaurant for many years. We also have many coffee shops like the Bluebird Cafe and Sacred Grounds. There really is something for everyone and we are happy to help our guests choose a restaurant that is sure to please their palate.

Any good area guides/websites that travelers could reference?

We have many links to local attractions on our website. We also have discounts to the Glenwood Athletic Club and Pool and to Yampa Vapor Caves.

How many rooms does your inn have?

There are only two bedrooms, both on the first floor and each with a private bath. So when people choose to reserve both rooms together they have the entire downstairs, porches and hot tub to enjoy just for their group.
