The Sheldon House

The Hideaway is perfectly "out of the way" for a little peace and quiet. Our single room is cozy and comfortable with a fresh new style. Relax with a good book in the reading chair, work for a while at the desk, or climb up in bed and enjoy your favorite TV show or movie on DVD. Don't forget to save time for a good long soak in the claw foot tub!! Enjoy.

Twin bed/private bath & shower - $125

This spacious and peaceful retreat is named for Olive Sheldon, the daughter of Charles and Martha. In addition to a queen-size bed that is made up with lots of pillows and a feather mattress, Miss Olive's room features an outdoor balcony, a great place to unwind with a snack or to take one more wishful look at a starry western sky before retiring. Other amenities include a Television/DVD player. Alternate bedding can be provided by advance request.

Queen and single beds/ private 3/4 bath - $145 ($15 for a third person)

The afternoon sun makes the West Garden Room especially inviting, with its soothing hues of lavender, rose, and mint green, plus romantic balloon curtains that grace large bay windows. At the end of your day, treat yourself to some leisurely time in the six-foot long clawfoot tub that is original to the house. Dreaming will be easy in the queen-size canopy bed.

Queen bed/private bath & shower - $145

Our largest room honors the first family of this home, the Sheldons. Today this room presents a romantic expanse decorated in Victorian style, with rose and black florals. A four-poster queen size bed rests beneath a wooden cornice that is decorated with softly falling lace. Among its furnishings is an antique Victorian settee. Bedding includes a down comforter and lofty feather pillows. Alternate bedding can be provided by advance request

As guests look around the room, they will find the walls graced with the artwork of such turn of the century, notables as Harrison Fisher and Howard Chandler Christy. A nice surprise for the incurable romantic. So - we say to you 'slip off those shoes, fall back upon the down and dream on.

Queen bed/ private 3/4 bath - $145

Queen and single beds, roll away available, microwave, refrigerator and washer/dryer. Short and longer term stays. $165 per night & up.

Other Amenities

Each room has a private telephone, down comforters, bathrobes and air conditioning. Beverages and snacks are also provided. Please let us know in advance if you have special dietary needs. For your convenience, off-street parking is available.

Reservations

We recommend that you make reservations and ask that you guarantee them with a credit card or personal check. We must have your payment or a deposit to guarantee a reservation. Minimum-stay requirements apply only to a few times each year. Room rates, unless otherwise stated, are for single or double occupancy. Prices are subject to change without notice. Applicable taxes will be added to all room rates. Children 10 years and older are welcome as guests. For everyone’s comfort, the Sheldon House is a non-smoking inn. We cannot accept pets, but with advance notice we can recommend local kennels.

Cancellations

If you must cancel, please notify us 2 weeks or more before your scheduled arrival to avoid a $75 cancellation charge. Cancellation for “prime event” days must be made 30 days in advance.

Check-in

We’re ready to welcome you from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Appointments can be made for alternate check-in times. Checkout time is 11 a.m.

Private phones in each room, down comforters, bath robes, beverages and snacks, video library, off street parking and central air conditioning when desired.
