Country Sunshine Bed and Breakfast is a beautiful, rustic, ranch-style home on four acres of land, overlooking the Animas River Valley and the San Juan Mountains. This spacious Bed and Breakfast has six comfortable guest rooms, all with private bath and most with television and VCR.Sit and relax in the common area on the cozy leather couches in front of a massive lava rock fireplace. Our leisure room has a television and VCR with a large video library. Whether it's a game of Chess, Scrabble, or Poker, we are stocked with a wide assortment of games as well as a huge assortment of children's games and puzzles.
A full, hearty breakfast is served each morning from 8:00 to 10:00, and a wide variety of refreshments are always available, including beer and wine. Coupled with his Austrian-native background and his passion for food preparation, Innkeeper Walter has a flair for cooking, especially the cuisine of his homeland. Our signature dish is Old Fashioned German Potato Pancakes (just like Walter's mom used to make) with a grilled chicken-apple sausage. This is served with apple butter from our local Honeyville store and applesauce. In the afternoon, enjoy refreshments, including home baked goodies, on our deck surrounded by ponderosa pines and scrubby oaks.Soak in our large outdoor hot tub that's available year-round, while you enjoy a glass of wine. If you are musically inclined, our antique Baby Grand Piano and two classic guitars are available for your enjoyment.
Conveniently located 12 miles north of downtown Durango, Country Sunshine is close to many attractions including Mesa Verde National Park and the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. We are the closest Bed and Breakfast to Durango Mountain Ski Resort. At County Sunshine, "Our home is your home".
