  • Introduction

McCaffrey House Bed & Breakfast Inn - Twain Harte, CaliforniaWelcome to McCaffrey House, a bed and breakfast inn, located in Twain Harte, California. Pure elegance in a wilderness setting.

Nestled in a quiet forest hollow in the California mountains, where majestic oak, cedar, and pine trees mark the edge of the Stanislaus National Forest and Emigrant Wilderness.

The Inn is a delightfully warm and charming three-story country home in the California Gold Country and was designed and built by your hosts, Michael and Stephanie McCaffrey. The home is located high in the California mountains, noted for a traditional four-season climate and breathtaking Sierra beauty; all good reasons why the McCaffrey's were first lured here some 38 years ago.

McCaffrey House was built with one essential theme in mind - warmth and comfort. The country-style Inn has a charm that makes every guest feel at home. General gathering areas are spacious and tastefully decorated with a large collection of furniture and art acquired by Michael and Stephanie during their travels. All appointments have such a welcoming touch that they extend an invitation to come often and stay a while.

McCaffrey House Bed & Breakfast Inn - Twain Harte, California guest reviewsSan Francisco Chronicle feature about Twain Harte and McCaffrey House.

"Not only is Yosemite spectacular, but the historic towns that surround the National Park are charming reminders of the Gold Rush days. For example, the scenery, history and good eats at McCaffrey House, in Twain Harte ... it was calming and peaceful to be there." - The Modesto Bee

"An American Bed & Breakfast is equivalent to an English Country House - a superb experience ... Having spent over a week touring California, our stay at McCaffrey House turned out to be the highlight of the honeymoon. We are already planning our next trip!" - Toby Young, London Sunday Telegraph

"Elegantes B&B in den Burgen mit Weinprobe am Nachmittag!" - McCaffrey House - recommended by the prestigious French magazine: America

"This was our first Bed and Breakfast experience, so I'm glad it turned out great. Stephanie treated us kindly and showed us to and around our room. We stayed in the Evergreen room and apparently there was some confusion about us bringing our dog (I guess that room isn't usually rented out to people who bring their dogs but she allowed us to stay in that room anyway). The room was amazing with great views of the forest. We loved the balcony and fireplace as well. The location was great though I could still hear passing cars on the highway from the balcony. We loved breakfast! The food was great and we really enjoyed getting to know the other people staying there as well. We will definitely return." - Nikki & Matt, tripadvisor.com
