Why do most travelers stay at your inn?

Most guests are interested in wine with Paso now larger than Napa/Sonoma combined we still have that wonderful country atmosphere. A visit to Hearst Castle or the coast adds to the variety.

What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn?

Stay at our facility more than once and you will become a member of our exclusive Brix Society for repeat guests. We will name a row after you and put a sign on it. We have many members!

If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?

The variety of activities both on and off the ranch makes it a great place to unwind. In addition to wine tasting at the many nearby wineries you can learn more about viticulture on our Grape Ed 101 tour or on a Carriage Ride drawn by our two beautiful black horses. Our substantial carriage collection compliment our four suite B&B with many antiques. The views are great, especially from the Studio at the top of the hill - one of the highest in the area.

What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?

We have received sooo many compliments, some are listed in as well as our website. We are highly ranked after being open over 11 years and with over 5100 guests from 27 countries. People love our breakfasts and atmosphere.

What’s the best kept secret about the area?

You are welcome to hike on the ranch trails.

What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?

Templeton and Paso Robles have many very good restaurants and other services. Take a look at

Any good area guides/websites that travelers could reference?

How many rooms does your inn have?

    Four guest rooms.

    Do you accept pets?

We have our horses and pet cattle for those who like animals but we find that pets interfere with other guests both during and after the stay. All our guests need to feel comfortable. We feel they should be left at home so everyone can have a nice visit on the ranch. There is a good dog motel in Paso. .

  • Grape Ed 101

Carriage Vineyards Bed & Breakfast, vineyard

Grape Ed 101 is one hour of "hands on" Vineyard Education. You will learn how to create and maintain a vineyard or olive orchard by Viticulturalist, Larry Smyth. You will enjoy riding through the vineyards in a larger ATV and strolling through the fields for a session studying the trellis and irrigation systems, variety selection and rootstocks.

A Kind Testimonial for the Grape Ed 101

Dear Larry, I hope this email finds you and everyone at Carriage Vineyards well. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to email you. I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed spending the morning with you during Grape Ed 101. Your knowledge and your love of the land was so evident during the tour of the vineyards. Even though I spent almost 25 years in the wine and spirits business, my wine knowledge had been confined to the areas of harvesting, the wine making process, and the finished product. I never knew all of the work and expense that goes into bringing the grapes to harvest. It is clear that you have a passion for viticulture and that you really care about what happens BEFORE the harvest. Grape Ed 101 was the perfect ending to our stay at Carriage Vineyards.

    With Warmest Regards, Anthony DiRocco

Carriage Vineyards Bed & Breakfast, vineyardsYou will learn about soil, weather, pests, water and fertilizer maintenance necessary to produce quality fruit for wine and olive oil.

For our guests, the cost is $30 per person with a minimum of two people and a maximum of 5 per session. For non-guests, the cost is $60 per person with a minimum of 2 people per session. Appointments are necessary and can be done when you reserve your room. Every attempt will be made to honor the time, but is subject to vineyard activity--when harvest time, that comes first. Morning sessions after breakfast are a perfect time to participate in Grape Ed 101.
