    Located just one block from Telegraph Hill in the heart of North Beach, Washington Square Inn offers the charm and hospitality of a country inn. The Inn is quiet and comfortable with liberal dashes of elegance. It is ideal for vacation visitors and a pleasant change for those on business.

    When you arrive at Washington Square Inn you are personally welcomed by our long term, friendly staff, who are wholly dedicated to your comfortable and satisfying stay. Our lobby is sophisticated, luxurious, and comfortable, featuring art and antiques from our own collection, as well as polished hardwood floors.

    Each of the 15 guest rooms features elegant French antiques among designer fabrics. All rooms have a full, private bath with soft robes. Some rooms have sitting areas in bay windows, while others offer a cozier atmosphere with their own private fireplaces overlooking an inner courtyard.

    In the mornings, a delicious fresh baked breakfast is prepared for you to have in your room, or you may choose to sit by the window at our inviting antique dining table overlooking the park. Our relationship with the neighborhood's best restaurants ensures your dinner reservations.

    A lively and relaxing wine and hors d'oeuvres reception awaits your arrival every afternoon from 4:00 - 7:00 pm. Guests may visit with their friends and family, as well as each other before leaving for their evening plans, or retiring in their romantic rooms for the night. Several Rooms Feature Coit Tower, Park or Cathedral Views.


    We are a full service, non-smoking hotel, and offer:

    We are located in a convenient and desirable neighborhood and provide a boutique style option to the large chain hotels.

    A comfortable, but elegant home away from home. Best location in the city. Guest can meet and mingle in the lobby for breakfast or the evening wine & hors d'oeuvres.

    If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?

    Being situated in an area where they can walk to many of the #1 tourist s spots in the city, great restaurants & nightlife.

    What’s the best kept secret about the area?

    For anyone enjoying walking, we have all kinds of interesting secret alleys and pathways through park like gardens, usually leading to incredible city & Bay views.

    If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?

    They could view the city by cable car, walk to Coit Tower and get a 360 view of the city, walk along the water front all the way to the Golden Gate Bridge, or the opposite way along the Embarcadero to the Ferry Building for lunch and gourmet shopping, rent bikes and ride to Sausalito or Tiburon, Tour of Alcatraz, jump on the Hop on Hop off bus (stops in front of our inn) & tour the entire city, Go to Golden gate park, Choose from many museums, all kinds of guided walking tours- many are free.

    Is there anything within walking distance of your inn?

    Almost everything, & if not, buses & cable cars are a short walk away.

    What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?

    This area is primarily Italian, but almost every type of cuisine is available.

    How many rooms does your inn have?

    We only have 15 rooms, plus an apartment, accommodating up to four.

    Do you accept pets?

    No pets (just our own little Bichon named Max) There are some good boarding options such as www.sfwags.com or www.waghotels.com
