Famous for many things, Pacific Grove has been often referred to one of the last American hometowns. Also the moniker Butterfly Town USA has been bestowed because of the annual Monarch butterfly migration. And a fun fact, it is actually a misdemeanor to kill or threaten a Monarch and if done, it carries a $1000 fine. Besides the ubiquitous butterfly, there are other notables from Pacific Grove including but not limited to John Steinbeck and Frank Zappa. There are also more Victorian homes per capita here than anywhere else in America, many of which have been turned into charming bed & breakfast inns. Obviously golf is a huge draw for visitors to Pacific Grove, but there is much more. The Point Pinos Lighthouse is the oldest continuously working lighthouse on the West Coast. There is also a historic homes tour, the Butterfly Sanctuary, many parks and a farmer’s market every Monday afternoon. Dining is second to none in this seaside enclave. Beach House at Lovers Point, Fandango, and Max’s Grill are amongst the favorites. We hope you will add a stop in Pacific Grove during your next visit to California. Less
