Conveniently serving many of Oakland’s and Berkeley’s residential communities for 20+ years, A Bed and Breakfast On Fairmount has hosted hundreds of happy, new grandparents, graduates’ families, business travelers, sight-seers from all over the globe, and "locals". Hosts Nancy and Jason, with origins in the Midwest and Australia, share their "green" lifestyle enthusiastically, incorporating seasonal produce and fresh eggs from the backyard organic garden into various healthy breakfasts. (Yes, we have laying hens much of the year). The large garden, always a work in progress, has been called a "Bird Lover’s Paradise."
Atop our hill, we have city and western views (including Mt. Tamalpais). This historic home can accommodate larger parties.
Kitchen breakfasts are served inside the French windows looking onto the patio and backyard. Within every B&B bedroom there is a private, full bathroom.

Nancy and Jason, thank you for a lovely stay in Charlie's Queen, gourmet breakfasts, and enjoyable conversation. Staying here has been a highlight of our trip. O that we would have a reason to return to the Bay Area! Taylor and Adrienne, Memphis, Tennessee, 10/14
Nancy and Jason, We thank you for mornings of culinary and conversational delight. You created a bit of fairyland here and we loved it. All our best, Peter and Dorothy, 12/14
This was our 3rdbest stay with you at 640 Fairmount because we could share it with our 14 yr. old darling granddaughter, Sienna, from Perth, Australia who made her first solo trip to the U.S. To be with her American family. She loved the Plum Room and we all enjoyed the delicious breakfasts along with your delightful company. It was terrific that Sienna could eat vegemite on toast every morning!
Thank you for allowing us a pizza night at your dining table on her arrival day and for help facilitating a cab ride, herbal meds and helpful suggestions re: the neighborhood shopping and area wide attractions. We had such a great time.
As always we love the amenities you provide and we are comfortable and at ease. It feels now like our home away from home.
All the best for a happy and healthy New Year 2015. Joan and Bill, Essex, CT 1/15
Thank you so much for the hospitable home, fine foods, and delightful dialogue that made our stay so cozy. The warmth of this house and its hosts is radiant. Syed ___
We had such a lovely experience. Thank you for the warm hospitality! Hope to one day come back and see your summer and winter gardens! Lyla, 12//15
We have found one of those special places here at your lovely little slice of paradise, that we just don't want to leave! Thanks for the extraordinary, creative, thoughtful breakfasts, the abundant flowers, the warmth of your welcome and the stories . . . all of them. (Jason, we'll be back for the few we may have missed!) . . . A perfect home away from home and we hope to have the opportunity to see you again soon here in Piedmont or Boulder. With hearts full of joy and love, we depart savoring every minute of this time with you both here. Andrea and John, Boulder, CO, 4/15
We had such a lovely stay in your peaceful, beautiful home. Thank you for your hospitality and kindness, and for leisurely chats in the morning! We were never rushed and we greatly enjoyed your company.
All the best from Brooklyn, NY, Amanda and David 6/ 15
Thank you for your wonderful hospitality. Hope you will remember the picky eating, former Jew, current Catholic Deacon and his “radical” wife as fondly as we will remember you.
If you find yourself in the Philadelphia area, please contact us. We would love to see you again.

Thank you Nancy and Jason for letting us stay in your wonderful home and feeding us with your yummy breakfast!s We are sad to leave but we miss our four children. The three days away from them was almost too much. Go Bronco’s

Thanks so much for the wonderful stay at your B and B and for the sublime breakfasts. I very much enjoyed talking to you and Jason and meeting your other interesting and congenial guests. Your house was the perfect refuge during the sometimes stressful wait for my new granddaughter to be born. Your generous and welcoming hospitality will always be part of my memories of this special time. With the new baby just blocks away, I hope there will be opportunities in the future for me to stay with you again.
Best, Anne 9/15 (from a card in the mail)
