Built in 1929 by the local postmaster, the inn is an exquisite example of English Tudor architecture. With whitewashed plaster set between blackened oak timbers, the inn reflects light both inside and out — brightening the common rooms in the day and creating a beautiful glow at night.   • The Sharpsteen Museum: Located in Calistoga features a history of Napa Valley artifacts from pre-historic to present day.

• Offbeat Attractions: For wacky fun, visit both the Old Faithful Geyser and Petrified Forest up the valley in Calistoga. In the Petrified Forest, see The Giant,  60-foot redwood buried over three million years ago by a volcanic eruption. Walk the forest's quiet paths and enjoy the ancient splendor of trees frozen in time. The Old Faithful Geyser's although not quite as impressive as its cousin in Yellowstone – offers a fascinating nature-driven performance of gushing water. The geyser throws thousands of gallons of water skyward in a delightful display.

• Head north on I-280
• Follow 19th Avenue to the Golden Gate Bridge
• Cross the Golden Gate Bridge into Marin (you'll be on I-101 North)
• Take Highway 37 exit (at Novato) east to Highway 121
• Turn left onto 121 (at Infineon Raceway) continuing to Highway 29
• Turn left (north) to Napa
• Take the First Street exit and turn left to go over the overpass

• Take Hwy 880 North to Hwy 80 East (towards Sacramento)
