    The Hannah-Roy House front

    The Hannah-Roy house is located in the San Francisco Bay area in the city of Berkeley, California. Built in 1896, the century old brown shingle home has since then been restored. Within walking distance of the safe and quiet neighborhood are many interesting shops and eating establishments.

    The Hannah-Roy House offers a private upstairs 2 bedroom suite with sitting area and French doors leading to a large private deck. Nonsmoking home with the Yella our resident cat. Rooms include TV, Wi-Fi, and continental breakfast on your first morning.

    A bowl of assorted fruits and delectable pastries from Fat Apples Bakery are provided on your first morning at the house.

    Why do most travelers stay at your inn?

    Most people come to stay here because they are visiting students or staff the University of California. People come to visit family members who are students or professors, or come to attend seminars at the university.

    What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn?

    People love staying here because they get the entire upstairs to themselves with a 2-bedroom suite and a private deck. We are located in the safest, quietest part of town and have no restricted parking. Within walking distance to many restaurants and shops.

    If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?

    Most people come to Berkeley to study or visit relatives at the University of California.

    What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?

    One of our guests said that she loves to stay here because she feels so safe, and it is like coming home.

    What’s the best kept secret about the area?

    One of the best kept secrets about Berkeley is how many incredible restaurants we have. It is also beautiful here and we have 3 regional parks in the area.

    If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?

    Visit Oakland (6-7 miles away), the University of California, great jazz music and many other great music events in town, wineries, hiking, and horseback riding. We are also close to Golden Gate Fields Racetrack, an American horse racing track.

    Is there anything within walking distance of your inn?

    We are located about 4 blocks to many great restaurants including Alice Water's Chez Panisse, shopping, and Monterey Market, a huge organic fruit & vegetable market. Also, guest can walk to the edible food garden, the First school garden in the U.S., a block to the King Swim Center and Running Track, as well as the Jewish Community Center

    What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?

    There are too many great restaurants to choose a favorite. I usually make suggestions depending on what type of food the guest is looking for in the area.

    Any good area guides/websites that travelers could reference?

    I don't use any specific web sites. I have newspapers and magazines with area activities and information. I also provide local maps for my guests.

    How many rooms does your inn have?

    We have one 2 bedroom suite with a private deck.

    We do not accept pets.
